Yes you're right, that is inconsistent.
I should have been more descriptive and said that if evolution were true, then it would disprove the Christian God. As a Christian, I see only one God. I tend to sometimes forget that atheists see many gods out there (none of which they believe in, I realize).

Think for a moment what a God is: A Creator, a Supreme Being, One who is eternal and transcendent. A Being which would (by definition) be responsible for reason, morality, time, even logic itself. Wouldn't it seem rather silly to think that this Being would be anything less than perfect?
Another way to put: How would we determine if a God is not quite perfect? One way might be to discover mistakes or errors that He has made, correct? But if a God exists, and you use logic or morality to measure His mistakes by, then what you're effectively doing is using His own constructs to measure Him. It's only logical to assume that a Creator must be at least as complex as His creation. Therefore whatever measuring stick you use, will have been made by Him and since He would be the Creator of that measuring stick, then He would at least fill it or more than likely surpass it.
Can you dig it?

Re: Contradiction
Yes, Dr. Adequate beat you to the punch. You must be on dial-up.
I should have cited that it was the Christian God that would be negated, not a generic god.

Re: The text about the creation vs the creation
You can be a good Christian and also realize that the hand-me-down stories gathered into on place, called the Bible, is a mere flawed human artifact.
No, then at best you're just a theist - not a Christian. Christians follow the Christ and the only message we have about Him is in the Bible. If you nullify the validity of the Bible, then you no longer have Christianity.

Right, sorry about that, things have deviated a bit from the OP's initial point I think.

Still wrong

Still wrong. See See replies at Evolution falsifies God/s?, Message 1 and Message 3

So you think there are only atheists and people that believe what you believe. Typical muddled fundie thinking. Your views on evolution (I've collected a few at Evolution falsifies God/s?,) are hilarious as well.
Enjoy.

curiously since you posted ...
and now you are behaving like a troll continuing to bait people about off topic blather.
If you are so confident how about a real debate instead of juvenile potshots?
Enjoy

Then it would be foolish to assume that all of the thoughts and ways of a Supreme Being could be known by our limited (and not so supreme) minds.
I thought that was my point. In particular, if there is a God then there's no particular reason to suppose that you have got hold of the right interpretation of the right version of the right holy book and do in fact know his thoughts and ways on questions of middle-school biology.
Also, if there is a God (I say that for your benefit of course), and we meet Him at roughly the same time, give me a warning before you start asking for apologies would you?
It was your idea --- you suggested that if your interpretation of your chosen Holy Book was wrong, he'd owe you an apology. Personally if God exists I'd settle for a good explanation.

I don't follow this logic at all. I'm simply replying with my own view points. You can agree or disagree, but I fail to see how that's trolling.
If you are so confident how about a real debate instead of juvenile potshots?
Again, I don't think I'm being unfair to anyone on here, but you're entitled to your opinion I suppose.
Real debate? Sure, what did you have in mind?

Are you going to go the bullshit route of "they aren't true Christians"?
If they deny the deity of Jesus Christ, then yes.
So you're past the whole must think the Bible is inerrant thing, okay. Well, there are Christian who deny the deity of Jesus, too. And you don't get to decide who is and is not a Christian.
If a talking snake is a problem for you, then how do you get over a deity in a man's body, dying and remaining dead for 3 days, then returning back to life and walking and talking with people for 40 days?
God did it.
The snake was just a mythical creature in a fairy tale, obviously. It doesn't say that God had anything to do with it talking, unlike the resurrection.
Genesis 6:6 doesn't show a mistake, merely that God is an emotional Being and He is expressing His grief over our continued sin. Since morality, right and wrong and emotions are all constructs of His, it is perfectly consistent for Him to express His sorrow this way.
It says he regretted. That's a mistake. Your just making up stuff to aviod admitting your error.
Then you would need to show that He meant it as some sort of allegory. All of the text suggests that it is to be taken literally (unlike Revelation).
It has a talking snake and magic fruit and it describes a series of events that we know could not have happened. It was a just-so story that the jews told around campfires. It screams "not-a-true-story".
But I'm sure you'll just dig your heels in and make up some more crap so you can maintain what you already believe.

Throwing off one-liner type replies with a touch of snark rather than replying in depth about specific points is trolling behavior (intended to annoy\inflame other participants).
Real debate? Sure, what did you have in mind?
Discuss what you think evolution is, why you think it invalidates your belief/s, and where you are wrong about evolution ... on the Evolution falsifies God/s? and letting riVeRrat have his thread back.
Enjoy

Oh I see. Very well, as a show of good nature, I will bow out and give the thread back to riVeRrat (I really didn't mean to hijack it btw).

Think for a moment what a God is
Who's talking about a god? You said a creator must be perfect.
Wouldn't it seem rather silly to think that this Being would be anything less than perfect?
It seem kind of silly to assume that it is, given the many imperfections in the world.

It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds
soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden i found myself in love with the world
And so there was only one thing I could do
