And the society that licenses the business is free to refuse a license if the business' policies violate society's standards.
But the business will not serve an ideology or principle that is opposed by their religion.

Sure, there are scary things going on in the world - but a couple of guys who want to marry each other aren't as scary as the people who want to stop them.
The world IS terrifying to those who understand what's going on.

Only insofar as it applies to homosexuality, evo, creo and ID, which is not very much.
I thought we were talking about the One/New World Order. Faith writes:
The world has always been headed for disaster. We've passed through most of them, scathed but still alive. Some day there may be a disaster that we don't survive. That one, according to you, will be caused by your petty, sadistic "God". However, the idea that marriage applies to homosexuals is certainly one of the thousands of signs that the world is upside down and headed for disaster. And "our" world has always been "upside down" to people on the other side. It's relative.

quote:Good one. No doubt there were scoffers on day one and on year one and on decade one. There were still scoffers after a century and after a millennium. No surprises that there are still scoffers after two millennia. So how do tell the difference between two millennia and ten millennia?

For truth in advertising, you should call them the Last Eons.
Well, technically speaking the Last Days began with the coming of the Messiah, so they've been with us for two millennia....

On the contrary, an example must be realistic; a goal must be attainable. How can we be all that we can be if the "example" is something we can not be?
People cannot live and do as Jesus the "living example" did if we see him as only human.

God uses the Nazis to judge the Jews. God uses the Allies to judge the Nazis. God uses the Communist bloc to judge the Allies. God uses NATO to judge the Communist bloc. God uses terrorists to judge NATO.
They are God's instrument of judgment right now, but they'll have their turn at being judged.

Not everything is judgment. So how do you determine what is judgement in your own pontifications?

Sometimes, when I'm walking down the street, I'll think, "Ice cream!" I don't try to determine why I want ice cream, though it's very clear that I do. Must be a sign from God.
I don't try to determine it in many cases, sometimes it's just clear that something is judgment.

There's a difference between the cake and the words on the cake. If you refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding, I'd revoke your business license. If you refused to write "God loves fags" on a cake, I'd support you.
If you are talking about the instances of Christian business people, none of them denied general service to gays, a "class of people," only services that support gay marriage which they oppose.

No, the bigots will drive themselves out of business, by violating the community standards, just like they would if they operated an unhygienic kitchen. The Christians will do unto others as they would have others do unto them.
So you'll drive all Christians out of business....

You should stop trying to read my mind. You're really bad at it.
Of course, "bigots" according to you are those who refuse to give up the tenets of their religion, as long as it's the orthodox Biblical Christian religion. Faith writes:
A Muslim would be a bigot if he wanted to force his standards on YOU, like you want to force your standards on homosexuals.
But you wouldn't call a Muslim a bigot for refusing to give up FGM would you? Faith writes:
I don`t tell you what to believe. In fact, I defend your right to believe any stupid thing you want to believe. What I oppose is trying to impose your beliefs on other people.
... YOU're the bigot with the irrational standards, who gives yourself the right to tell us what we should believe....

I haven't said anything about "depriving people of their business". What I've said is that people can deprive THEMSELVES of their own business by refusing to comply with community standards. If they keep a filthy kitchen, or refuse to serve black people or homosexuals, they are violating community standards and are not entitled to a business license. Their religious beliefs do not entitle them to dictate community standards.
That's what you call depriving people of their business for acting on their religious beliefs?

You're not listening. I agree that you have every right to deny services for whatever petty reasons your religion dictates. But the community you live in also has every right to deny you a business license.
... but your position IS a violation of my First Amendment right to act on my religious beliefs by refusing a particular service that violates them.
