So apparently a german airline co-pilot decided to lock the cockpit door while the pilot stepped out to the restroom. He then proceeded to crash the aircraft loaded with 150+ people into a mountain.
Reality is stranger than fiction. So now when we board a flight we can add to the list of worries in addition to is the plane sound? Is there a terrorist on board? Is our pilot psychotic?

Well, this thread has turned a bit dark. On the lighter side, I give you Michael Sibley of the great state of Georgia. It seems that Mr Sibley thought that Americans aren't frightened enough of Islamic terrorists. Apparently 60% of Georgians have them confused with bunny rabbits and want to pet them or something. So, how would you raise public awareness of the threat posed by Islamic terrorists, if you were the dumbest person in the world?
That's right! You'd build a couple of pipe bombs, place them in a public park, and pretend that Islamic terrorists did it. And how would you pretend that Islamic terrorists did it? That's right, you'd leave a copy of the Koran with the bombs, because fanatical Muslims enjoy nothing so much as blowing up the Koran. How the police saw through this brilliant ruse I do not know.
TPM has the details.
Sibley said he placed the bombs in the park because he's a "patriot." He said he regretted that people weren't "paying attention to what was going on (sic) the world" and he wanted to remind people "that this type of activity could happen anywhere," according to the documents. So basically like a public service announcement, only with more bombs.

So basically like a public service announcement... Well, thank you, Mr. Sibley. I appreciate your patriotism in bringing this problem to the people's attention. I wish more patriots would do the same thing in other communities. Not only would this increase the public's awareness of the dangers, but we could get a lot of patriots off the streets and into jails. However, Dr. A., that bunny rabbit comment was in extremely poor taste. You do know that Muslims don't do Easter, right? It's against their religion and forcing this Christian symbol on them is insensitive to their feelings ... even when you pet them. I wonder if the Koran says anything about chocolate? I suppose, like the rest of us, they'd start with the ears first.

he wanted to remind people "that this type of activity could happen anywhere," Apart from anything else ... isn't that exactly how the actual terrorists want people to feel? That's why they're called terrorists. They want to induce a feeling of terror. Having people being worried about them is their modus operandi and raison d'ȇtre. And apparently Mr. Sibley wants to help. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

So far, despite valiant efforts, she has not managed to be a big enough loony to qualify. This ends here.

I've got a nice, huge sample of malachite from Tsumeb on the window sill about 50 cm from my computer. Together with a few examples of my favourite mineral, azurite. Maybe that's why amongst the series of computers being placed on my desk over the years only one has picked up a minor virus.

I dont believe there’s a such thing as an atheist. Because there’s too much documentation. Our calendars are based on Jesus Christ.

Why You Should NEVER Re-Boil Water
You know how you see the steam coming off of the water when you boil it? Well, that steam is made up of volatile compounds, and they burn out of the water, turn into gasses and leave the water as steam. When your boiled water cools down, those dissolved volatile gasses, as well as minerals, settle back into it. When you re-boil the water, the chemical compounds are changed again; however, the way they are changed is actually harmful.
When water is re-boiled, dangerous components will collect in the water instead of escaping from it. What type of harmful substances? Usually re-boiled water contains: ArsenicNitrates Fluoride
