We got about 8" of snow yesterday. They are calling for another 8"-12" today. Had my tractor battery on a Batterytender all night, so should start right up when I start to snowblow.
Sounds like where Moose lives they got even more snow. For some reason I have a memory that he lives up the shore from Duluth. Could be wrong though.
Then after we get 20"+ of snow, we get an arctic blast. Looks like we might get temps as low as -20F through Tuesday. Wind chill readings could reach -30 to -40F.
It was so bad in Duluth they cancelled the First Lutheran Lutefisk dinner.
Lutefisk dinner cancelled for first time in 19 years
You know things are bad when they cancel a Lutefisk dinner.
Oh yes Lutefisk is as vile as it sounds. I like a lot of "interesting" food, but lutefisk is vile.

Our weather here in Central Texas is so variable this year.
Today sunny and clear with a high of 80 degrees and then Thurday and Friday morning down to the upper 20s.

acorns
This year my Oak trees have been dropping acorns at a rate I have not seen in decades. I fill a 96 gallon trash can half full twice a week and that's just from those on the street, driveway and walk which is a tiny percentage of the area.
That obviously means that summer was wet and warm with lots of sun.

Re: acorns
We have Bur Oak on my property. 6 are 40+ feet high. There was very little acorn production this year. Bur Oak are known to have heavy acorn crops only every few years.
So that means the acorn crop was normal.

Official unofficial measurements
Just took 5 measurements around the yard. Averaged about 14". It's still coming down.
Waiting for the snow to slide off the steel roof. Sounds like a freight train coming through the house.

Here is a pic from my deck. I cleaned off the deck yesterday after about 8" fell.
Going to have a lot of work when the snow slides of the new garage with the Steel roof.

Yah, it's getting frigid cold down here too. High today was barely over 70o with expected low tonight in the real low 40's.
It's the cloud cover keeping things cold. Thursday the high won't even get to 70o with lows expected under 40o. Time to get my jacket out.

I lived in NC for 6 years. Worst 6 years of my life. I love winter and snow.
We have about 350 acres of wooded land in the family right out my back door so looking forward to getting out in the backyard on snowshoes. Probably should wait till next week since it is black powder season. There shouldn't be anyone on our land hunting but not worth the risk. I'd hate to take a 54 caliber slug from a trespasser.

That's what she said....
Not too much here in central Minnesota.
The roads suck, but that's because the city I live in has decided they don't need to be plowed. Took ten minutes to get into my parking space. Finally had to turn around, drive around the block, and come down the alley at about a 15 mph 'running start'slid right in (see subtitle).

Love your enemies!

Something like 30-36 inches, and still snowing
Sounds like where Moose lives they got even more snow. For some reason I have a memory that he lives up the shore from Duluth. Could be wrong though.
Correct. From noonish Monday to noonish Tuesday we got 18 inches of medium weight snow. Currently there is 29 inches in the uncleared part of my driveway (no drifting), but the more recent snow is heavier (still not extremely wet) and things are compressing down. In all, it seems to about 30 to 36 inches total, and it's still snowing.
I piddled around too late Monday night at my job, and couldn't make it home. It's generally flat to downhill going to work, and the opposite coming home. I'm driving a Saturn wagon with not particularly good for snow tires. Tuesday night and tonight I didn't go it (they'll survive without me somehow). It seems to be looking that I should get in to work Thursday night, but time will tell.
It was generally running a little below freezing (a good thing), but now it's a bit above freezing (damn, the snow gets wetter and heavier). I thought I heard that in about 24 hours we may be looking at 20 below F overnight.
Or something like that.
