That has to count as one of the most bizarre and anti-reality claims I've yet seen on this forum. Are you actually serious? If so, I'd quite like you to provide me with a living passenger pigeon, dodo or great auk.
You also mention some wildly erroneous claims for rate of extinction, now proved wrong. So what? They were wrong about the
rate of extinction, that does not mean that extinction doesn't occur. Just because the precise rate of extinction is not known, does not mean that we cannot know that a specific known species has become extinct.
