Yes Virginia, such people exist and all you can do for them is treat them kindly, try to protect them, have pity on them and never stop trying to educate them.

You have never stated any theory. If you did actually present a theory then perhaps you can provide a link to that message.

Look, I've given FACTS in support of my position that you can't get "evolution" without reducing genetic diversity, it's something breeders and conservationists have to deal with IN REALITY all the time, and guess what, reducing genetic diversity means that eventually as creatures are engaged in evolving you run out of the stuff that fuels evolution. If that is true then you should be able to provide a link to where you provided said facts? Well, if we look at reality what we find is that we are all just variations of the same kind; humans are just a recent variation of all the different Homo kind which are just variations of Primates which in turn are just variations of the Chordata kind which is really just a variation of the Animalia kind.
And she is kinda right. There is more genetic diversity within the Animalia kind than in the Primate kind and more diversity in the Primate kind than in the Homo kind and more diversity within the Homo kind than within the Homo sapiens sapiens kind.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Well, there are a few things that can help explain much of it, particularly in the US.
First, about a quarter century ago the voters in the US decided that reporting should be treated as a profit center and so only news that people wanted to buy should be published. In the name of fairness they abolished the Fairness Doctrine, cut funding for PBS, allowed media outlet conglomeration, removed the Chinese Wall between news and advertising or between reporting and editorializing. Second, the US has a very large population of Biblical Christians who again, about a quarter century ago, put through a coup and took over one of the two major political parties and elected Ronald Reagan who totally disregarded the Constitution and all of the Principles of Conservatism and began implementing a plan to destroy the US and turn it into a Christian Fascist State. The reason that Biblical Christians are such a threat is that they are indoctrinated in accepting falsehoods and never testing against reality as well as willfully repressing honesty. This begins with their unthinking acceptance of the Bible as "The Word" and denial of basic facts like the obvious errors in the Bible as well as the many, many conflicts, examples of tales evolving, inclusion of mutually exclusive versions of stories and the fact that there is not even a universal Canon. To cap it off is the very human dislike of bad news, not wanting to admit that we created most of the problems for ourselves, an inability to take a long term view, almost no training in critical thinking within the US education system and the transformation of actual history into an epic tale where all the many faults of the US are suppressed.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

And so once again instead of actually providing links to any place you honestly presented facts or a theory or support or evidence you simply declare that you are satisfied and run away.
Pretty standard avoidance tactic of the CCoI.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Nonsense.
Yes, some religions do try to brainwash or con the members, but to just say that religion is to blame denies all the evidence out there. Religious people also contributed to our knowledge and understanding of evolution, global warming, endangered species, germ theory, the big bang, physics, medicine, just about any field you care to mention. Yes, there is a Christian Cult of Ignorance but there is also a Conservative Cult of Ignorance and Muslim Cult of Ignorance and Liberal Cult of Ignorance and Atheist Cult of Ignorance and ... The question of why folk deny such things, why they deny evidence does come down to comfort but that is true in many areas. It is human nature to accept the status quo until the pain of not changing becomes greater than the pain of change. That is most often seen today in personal relations; marriages are a great example. In the case of issues we often address here that conflict does devolve to changing the status of the Bible. So called Biblical Christians have a status quo that is based on denying evidence and finding work arounds that allow them to maintain the comfortable fictions. They begin by believing that the Bible is without contradictions even though the very first two books of the Bible are mutually exclusive. Once you build a belief system that is based on mental dishonesty then denying reality and evidence becomes easy and comfortable. Since you use the term "apparent contradictions' if by thinking you mean honest critical thinking then my answer would be "No."
There is a difference between honest critical thinking and just making shit up.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Phat writes: perhaps, but I dont believe that critical thinking is the same for everyone. One man may "throw god away" since they believe that GOD, if GOD exists will exist anyway and expects that person to freely question and doubt. Another man may believe that God cannot be thrown away to begin with...it would be like throwing the air or the water away...impossible. But nothing in that post has anything to do with reality or critical thinking rather a great example of not critically thinking. It is perhaps the best example so far of what the problem is.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

No, it is not religion but rather a matter of being taught how to think. I was raised in a religious family and educated in religious schools yet I have absolutely none of the problems you ascribe to religion.

I am a cradle creedal Episcopalian. I am very devout, at least a 10. It would depend on the neighbor.
