FFS! Now look what you made me go and do!!
You made me look up Peter on google and I ended up watching his YouTube clip.
How am I supposed to maintain an unbiased and detached attitude to Peter now that I know what he is actually like??
tbh, I almost feel that asking him to explain his thoughts could be considered bullying. :S

Re: Irony meter hits the peg...
Okay, Taq. We'll go back to your teeter-totter. If both users weigh 100 pounds, the weight at one end will be an average weight of 100 pounds.
The force at one end will be 100 pounds. "Average" doesn't figure into it.
The weight at the fulcrum, the barycenter, is going to be an average of 200 pounds, at least.
The force at the fulcrum will be 200 pounds plus the weight of the board. Again, "average" doesn't enter into it.
But that's all forces, not density. The density of the system is the weight of the users plus the weight of the board divided by the volume of the users plus the volume of the board. That density is not associated with any point.
(To those with a clue: yes, I know I'm playing a bit fast and loose with "weight" and "force", but I bet nobody could explain the distinction to Peter).

Taq, I keep asking you, can you see past the Observble Universe? If you can, then yes, we would see that many of the Galaxies are blue shifted - not just Andromeda.
If you jump in the air, you can leave the ground, yes - I agree. That's like defying Gravity. But Gravity will pull you back again. Actually, it's Gravity that runs the Universe, according to Newton (a very smart man).
The expansion of the Observable Universe (OU)is increasing exponentially. There is absolutely no evidence for any 'slowing down' of the expansion.
The Old Space Shuttle (RIP) used fuel to get to Space. It didn't break any Law of Gravity.
And yes, you're right, if we don't feel any forces acting on us, we're in free-fall. All we know is the expansion is increasing as we (in the OU ) find ourselves accelerating thru' Space - the only question we need to answer is are we going 'in' or'out'.
Keep in mind, please - the only kind of expansion that accelerates and keeps accelerating is Inward, as I carefully explain in my 'Observational Evidence,' on page 1.
We are going in, Taq. I don't know how else to say it - and I'm only going with the evidence.
If you accelerate in your car, you might notice, or you might not - that the pressure inside the car drops?

No Nukes, I understand perfectly the vortex created by the bird's wing - it's not a 'thought' experiment - it's what actually happens, complete with the Inward 'accelerating expansion'.
Rats, I already responded.

Taq, of course the Observable Universe is expanding. This expansion is accelerating, don't forget that. It keeps accelerating. Not because of Dark Energy but for the reasons I give on page 1.

Re: Irony meter hits the peg...
No Nukes, I don't want to talk about 'average density' any more.
About the 'accusation' - is this some kind of apology?
Let me know, please.

Okay,. P:anmda. Let's get back to splittiong hairs. I'm saying that if the black hole is spinning at the same speed as your terminal velocity, you won't deccelerate, you will just get 'accreted'.
That's not a mistake - but it is a chance to prove you wrong.

I've seen your replies.
And now I've seen your video.
I don't think anything else needs to be said.

JonF, please watch the language. There is no need to swear!
Personal Incredulity? If I read it in Wiki, that's still 'Personal Incredulity' to you. Come on, face reality, JonF.
As for the 'observed omni-directional expansion of the Observable Universe,' don't forget that this 'expansion' is 'accelerating'. That may not be important to you, but it is to me, as it shows our direction - Inwards. (page 1)
Can you see beyond the Observable Universe, JonF? Do tell me.

Re: Irony meter hits the peg...
JonF, if Gravity built the Universe - it evolved from a huge cloud of hydrogen, it's finite. Darwin had the same problem.
But you probably think the Universe was made 'poof,' - instant Universe! How about that! Just like in the Bible!
And expansion is expansion, JonF - if you accelerate you're gonna expand. Too bad you can't see it.
I'm actually looking for a bit of agreement in this thread.

He wasn't swearing. You asked him what he thought of your idea, he told you. There's no language provision in the Forum Guidelines, and this is the Free For All forum anyway, where there's no moderation and anything goes.
I think your time would be better spent repairing the tile in your kitchen. Maybe it'll turn out to be something you're good at, something that's certainly not true of science.
