Clarification
It was suggested to me (by Theodoric) that if I wanted to preach or share my opinion online that I make people well aware of the fact beforehand, so they would not have to listen to what they didnt want to hear. If you choose to respond, All I ask is for honest feedback on my videos and posts and what I am saying or attempting to say: ENJOY

Phats Soapbox
It took me three years from the time I first got on Blog TV until now...before I could even voice my opinion unselfconsciously.
Granted I have much room for improvement, but I encourage feedback and...if any of you want...you can also post any video blogs here in my topic and let people comment on you!

Re: Phats Soapbox
Thanks, Taz. Ive been making videos unselfconsciously only lately. When I first bought a webcam, I was forever thinking about how to look. Jar reminded me that content was the first priority but I mistakenly believed that self image came first. Now, I see the light.

The challenge of making videos.
I made some new ones on You Tube...maybe these will be easier for you to access.

Phats Online Diary Unplugged
Im bringing this old topic that I started up again in order to discuss the beliefs, thoughts and strategies of my life. I interact with several groups/clubs/sub-cultures in my life. 4 that I can think of....
  • My church is a good group, though they are rather conservative and uniformly set in their beliefs. They do a lot of good for the community in which they serve and for each other. I don't have the authority within that "club" to speak to many publicly but perhaps may have a chance in Gods timing as He matures me an hones my beliefs and thinking skills.
  • As a Union Steward at my workplace (Safeway) I interact with my fellow employees, the management, the labor union itself. This is a different club. The labor union is quite authoritarian and rigid in their thinking at times---but in a diametrically unique and different way from the church. In a nutshell, the church is CCOI conservative(though some of them are hardly ignorant...they are quite bright and would debate well) whereas the union staff themselves are quite liberal. Some of them are bright as well...though also in limited ways.
  • EvC Forum. I'll have to say I've grown to love this place. Apart from my internet friend, Jon---I barely know any of you in a real time random thought basis--apart from our verbal jousting in specific posts of course...and you are all in general my most highly educated and intellectual club of those I have mentioned. There is one other "club" which includes all three, however.
  • The public-at-large. People I meet every day. Customers. Clerks in other stores. Melvin, the desk clerk at the hotel I m staying at, is my newest friend. He looks 18 but is 28 and married with a 5 year old son. He came to the US from the Honduras when he was 16. In a few moments I am going out of the business center in this Quality Inn that I am staying at and talking with him.
In summation, we all are members of cliques--clubs of various beliefs, ideologies, persuasions and purposes.
Jon tells me that as far as he knows I am the only EvC member who "routinely starts threads to discuss himself."
So be it.

Jon writes:
My question to you: what do you think each of these groups offers for you personally? In what way have they helped you grow, and have any maybe held you back?
Here are the four groups I have mentioned:
  • My Church
  • EvC Forum
  • My workplace and the union, Local 7
  • The public-at-large
My church offers me accountability. They also offer support. I probably don't reciprocate as much as I should...They have helped me grow more mature as a youth volunteer since they demand that I be mature and responsible...traits which I traditionally have avoided. They don't hold me back from examining the big picture since I also have the other groups...although critics would say that they foster black and white thinking regarding Christianity. Finally, they are very loving and kind to my 91 year old Mom, and for that I am very grateful.
EvC Forum has meant a number of things to me over the years. It is of course a place to rant. It is a place where my beliefs and views almost always get challenged. Itr is a place full of educated and intelligent people who offer me a glimpse at perspectives and beliefs which--though I rarely agree with nor they with I--broadens my perspective on cultural and human opinions and beliefs and world views.
My Workplace is my livelihood. It is where I earn a living. As a Union Steward I also get the opportunity and responsibility of introducing my coworkers to Local 7 and teaching them that they make up the union---they are the union. I see both sides. The corporate thinking is a microcosm of US business philosophy and conservative free market economics. The Union is an example of social activism and the labor movement. Neither side is complete, in my mind, without the other. That to me is why I work at a union shop. Were I at a non union job I would be forced to work harder and compete more. Competition gets brutal as one gets older.
The Public-at-large\ is what completes reality. I will have more to say on this one as I prepare myself to address the public.

Im finally disciplined enough to make another run at fat adaptation. This time it is primarily for spiritual reasons and health reasons. My legs are swollen and the doctor tells me to go low Carb...but it isn't easy.
Day one was Sunday. The experts say that it will take me up to 4 days of low Carb(20 to 40 grams of carb/sugar maximum daily) to achieve fat adaptation and up to 3-6 weeks to achieve full Ketogenic adaptation. I'm determined to the point of obsession...I need to regain control of my health. Once I switch back to burning fat mainly, I will balance my diet with vegetables, less meat and more nuts. Watch how nutty I get when my ketone fueled brain starts extrapolating spirituality.

    Re: Health progress?
Hi Lammy! Yes I can say that progress is slow but is again happening. Note that it took over 3 months from when you made this post Message 11 before you are now hearing back from me. I am on Day#3 of my Lo-Carb/Intermittent Fasting plan, and am noticing some positive change. Here is a video that I made 2 weeks ago when I just read that book, 3 Theories Of Everything by Ellis Potter.
    Note several things.
    1) I am scatterbrained and, though apparently trying to "be intellectual" am having dissociative rambling thoughts. The typical Hi Carb diet which I am on a majority of my life is unhealthy and in fact destructive to me. Also note how messed up my apartment is behind me. My legs were swollen, my energy was being propped up by caffeine and the sugar-based diet that was wrecking my health.

Percy, addressing my forum behavior writes:
You're descending into irrationalism. I sense something going on in your life, no way to know if it's just your own thinking or if you've experienced some event. You've never had the ability to connect ideas to the real world, but now you seem to have dropped into irrationalism.
In 2020, I basically stopped exercising, no longer tried to correct my health, and wore masks and gloves every day... thank God I was still working. In early 2021, I began getting blisters on my legs. I was sent to the hospital outpatient services...Porter Adventist Wound Care
Again...thank God for health insurance. Thats all I have to say. I am in a fight with twenty years of progressive diabetes. Perhaps this all contributes to my rants and attitudes here at EvC.

    My Health Problems are improving.
This morning, I attended the Zoom Bible class from my sister's church. I thought of many of you when the Reverand concluded the lesson with the following short video(2 minutes long). It basically says it all.

    Untangling a bored fisherman
I resisted watching it, I mean why would an atheist watch a video about 'love' and the 'holy bible' promoted by a fundie loonie?
So who is this loonie, again? You really need a short lecture.
    1) GOD, the creative energy/force/Deity of the universe (yes, its a belief, and it's not a farfetched probability) chose to relate to the main species on this planet (humans) by infusing Himself into our culture at one specific point in time. Sorry, Richard Carrier. You are WRONG. Dawkins? Keep doing what you do best. I like your humor but am amazed such a brilliant mind cant contemplate the obvious. Tangle you have every right to be an atheist, confront me when bored, and spout your logic defending your stance. Yes, I would love to go fishing with you in some life and time. As for the Loon, it isn't I. I am every bit as smart as anyone at this forum and will prove it if a neutral third party gives us an IQ test. Though some of my ideas are daft, I'll bet the farm that I'm right about the gold and silver and an eventual dollar collapse within ten years. As for Jesus? He loves you even if you don't believe in Him and He is still working on me. [/end lecture]
