Kids say the darnedest things
My 5 Year old, Tyler (while looking at a clothes hanger): Hey you could use this as a cooperang
Me: What's a cooperang?
Tyler: Well, if there is a bad guy who likes to hurt kids, then you could throw it at him and hit him in the neck!
Tyler: Dad! Did you see that blue and red light (in the sky)?
Me: No? What was it?
Tyler: I don't know.
Me: Maybe it was a alien spaceship.
Tyler: Nah, it was something way cooler than that.
From a children's book, Junie B. Jones, that I was reading him.
Mother (on the phone) "I had better not get another call from the principal, Junie B. Do you understand me? Do you, Do you?"
Junie B. looks at the principal
"My mom says not to call her anymore."

Humility is a virtue
Dr Adequate writes:
But the problem here is that people have different interests. I, for example, am exceptionally smart, and it is in my interest that everyone else on this forum should tangibly acknowledge this fact by becoming my slaves. But you're not going to, because you in fact believe that your interests are as valid as mine even though you can never hope to aspire to my god-like intellect.
Is it still arrogance if you actually are better than everyone else?

Oops!!
I had a number of reactions to the following. See if yours are in the same order as mine or if you have any that I didn't have (apologies if this has been discussed. I did a search and didn't find anything).
1. Total disbelief, I had to read it 3 times to be sure it was saying what it was saying
2. Anger that someone as ignorant of Stephen Hawking would make such a statement.
3. Rolled about on the floor, suffering from breathing dfficulties, commonly called hee-ing and hawing like a donkey.
In the debate about health reforms in the US an editorial in Investors Business Daily said
"people such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the UK, where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."
I can't link to the original as I'm now just getting an error message.

Um that's like saying it should be illegal for a plumber to do plumbing works.
