Two possibilities
There are of course only two possible explanations for your cat's behaviour.
Either your cat is pondering the fate of a fellow cat in an experiment by one Erwin Schrdinger or it's your cat's way of telling you where it wants you to move the sofa.

"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science." - Charles Darwin.

Cats have terrible daylight vision because of their reflective eyes. They're seeing something you're not, and its double vision.

Their acuity is not as good as ours but I would hesitate to say they have double vision.

The above ontological example models the zero premise to BB theory. It does so by applying the relative uniformity assumption that the alleged zero event eventually ontologically progressed from the compressed alleged sub-microscopic chaos to bloom/expand into all of the present observable order, more than it models the Biblical record evidence for the existence of Jehovah, the maximal Biblical god designer.

Moreover that view is a blatantly anti-relativistic one. I'm rather inclined to think that space being relative to time and time relative to location should make such a naive hankering to pin-point an ultimate origin of anything, an aspiration that is not even wrong.
Well, Larni, let's say I much better know what I don't want to say than how exactly say what I do.

A lifetime of cats suggests to me that they are not so good at edges and objects, but they are phenomenal at detecting motion within their effective predatory range.

Yeah. Because they do their thing twilight they have bags of rods and the sharpness of the edges they see is poor as a result.
Turn off the anti aliasing on a PC game and it's not too far off.

Tremendous spacial self awareness.
I'm not so sure about edges. My cat can jump from the floor to a shelf full of breakable blown glass about 4 feet high and not disturb anything on the shelf. Much to my relief I might add.

Yeah, you sure don't want your pipes and bongs to get broken!
