Great observation. If the shaft that the platter rest upon it operating smooth, no wobble, then it is a speed problem (including maybe a motor issue), or a belt problem.

Well... if I have to start buying pieces to test and figure out what's wrong with it, then I would probably be financially better off just getting another player all together.
There was a nice one a while back in the thrift store... I wish they still had it. JonLove your enemies!

Throw a couple of hamsters in there to speed things up.

You may not need to buy anything, go here to download a printable pdf file that will allow you to see how off it is, Florescent bulb works best, since you are in USA you want the 60 Hz version. This strobe disk will allow you to see any changes you make. (much more accurate than your ear)
Belts are $8.00 and up to $17.00 or so, might be in your budget? I wouldn't replace a motor on that player. (not worth it, you would be better off getting a new/used one) More to follow... Defiantly get the strobe disk though so you can check out anything you intend to buy. Some turntables will have a hole in the bottom where you insert a small (eyeglass size) flat head screwdriver in order to adjust the speed without having to take the cover off, I don't think yours has this? I am still hunting the schematics for your model. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck yet, as time permits I will look more. ( also going to ask a really good tech I know, he comes up with what i am looking for 8 out of 10 times) "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Maybe I will just open the thing up and see what's in it. I really appreciate all the help, by the way!Love your enemies!

You can get parts here
Haven't heard back from my friend yet, he works on electronics for a living and has access to stuff most of us don't. (least not for free) Belts are cheaper here than anywhere else I have seen."No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Had a problem once with too-fast playing on a belt driven record player. What had happened was that 'rubber' from the belt deposited on the spindle over time, increasing the diameter of the spindle slightly. It being the driver, the increase in diameter resulted in an increase in turntable speed.
Removing the build up restored the speed.

I have a Yamaha P-750 turntable with a very expensive B&O needle that I don't use. It's barely been used since 1983 when I switched to CD's, and hasn't been used at all in over a decade. You can have it, just PM me where to send it, unless...

OK...

I have got the user manual and schematics on the way, might be Saturday before I get them though. My freind is going to scan them and make a pdf file for me. ( no worries, he is a super nerd and loves to do this kind of thing...great guy to know) If I were you though I would take Percy up on his most generous offer. (Hats off to you Percy) I would not recommend trying anything in a trial and error way though.....It often results in the smell of ozone and a wisp of smoke. It's on its way, Wednesday ETA. Hope it works okay for you, it's at least 30 years old. Last time I used it was maybe 10 years ago, worked fine then. Anyway, glad it's found a good home.
