It's a option, especially for other forums
As various others have pointed out, Percy is developing a software with diverse capabilities, many which will probably not be used at evcforum.net.
If I were to be implementing an ignore feature at a forum, I think the thing should work (or at least have the option) to also block display of replies to the ignored author. You don't want to look at some certain persons messages - You also don't see replies to those messages.

Re: It's a option, especially for other forums
Now, that's annoying. I had prepared a reply. I clicked "Preview" - and everything that I had typed disappeared into the ether.
Second try:

I agree. But that doesn't address the question.
My suggestion. Instead of the notation "Minnemooseus has not yet responded", the wording should be "Minnemooseus is ignoring this poster". That's for the case when the poster is on the ignore list.

Maybe a drop down list of all members that are ignoring the person?

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

That seems reasonable.
Note that if an ignore list is introduced, it is unlikely that I would use it.

An ignore button is on the todo list, but there's no schedule at the current time.
Any new news on an ignore button Admin?

I use it on other forums where there are some persistent members that consistently post crap which, if I can see it, always tempts me to wasting my time reading it.
On this forum, however, I cannot think of any member I would ever want to use an Ignore feature with.
But hey, if the goal is creating a marketable product, an Ignore button is definitely a must-have

Love your enemies!

No creationists you would ignore.

Re: Copy Ability
Hi purpledawn,
When we hover over the name of a thread, message or msg number; we can see the msg, thread, and forum numbers. Unfortunately we or at least I am unable highlight the numbers to copy them into a msg. If that is universal, I feel it would be handy if we could copy those numbers. It would make it easier to use the numbers when references post or threads in posts.
Did you ever get a way to do this?
What I use is the  PEEK  button and then in the navigation bar you get (for your post):
http:⁄www.evcforum.net/Peek.php?control=peek&f=19&t=15806&m=628680
forum 19
thread 15806
message 628680
and
[fid=19] gives you Suggestions and Questions
[tid=15806] gives you Ignore button
[mid=628680] gives you Message 5
It also makes it easy to copy from the post peeked at when addressing a different post.
Enjoy.

ignore formating button?
Hi Portillo,
The main forum I was on before this one had an ignore button. It also was not moderated at all, so there was a lot of flame and spam posters that would just dump nonsense on all the threads. Ignore was very useful for filtering these posters out.
I would think something closer to the link on the left sidebar similar to
 Portillo Posts Only
as, for instance
 Hide Portillo Posts
With it only applicable to that opening of that thread, resettable from the poster pull down tally (or when you next visit the thread).
What might be more welcome than ignore would be a button to turn off formating ...
Enjoy.

Re: Copy Ability
I found the long message number up by the post number and I can copy that.
I hadn't paid attention to the navigation bar when in peek. Thanks for the tip.
I use the fid, tid, and mid alot; that's why I was wanting an easy way to copy the numbers without opening and closing a lot of threads or windows.
Gotta do the work I guess.
Thanks

To copy message number, you can right click box (abe: or message number) , copy properties http and paste to message. (abe: I posted my original message before reading RAZD's messages regarding peek, etc. ) His appears to be the best solution.

I regret to say that I haven't made any progress on features in quite some time. I'm in the middle of implementing templating right now which is proving to be a bit of a rough slog.

Re: Copy Ability
Three or four years ago I had drag and drop of forum, thread and message numbers implemented, but browsers closed the security hole that made it possible before I could release it.
