There once was a fellow named Straggler
Whose ideas were highly irregular
He thought with no plan and no firm guiding hand
That he evolved from some rocks, how peculiar

Now Straggler has talked of his socks
Comparing cellular fungus to rocks
So again with no plan,
that is known to man
It’s still life from rocks , is it Botox?

There once was a man from old London
Who solved life’s greatest conundrum
Abiogenesis grew
From the sock in his shoe
No God no science it’s optimum

Miller mixed chemicals into a stew
With methane and ammonia too
He threw in some water
And with a spark it got hotter
But who mixed the original brew?

With Straggler all’s been resolved
A solution with no God involved
But there’s some information
That needs explanation
From what have those darn socks evolved

Well from Straggler I’m taking a cue
And so without further ado
I’ll let him retire
For some sleep he requires
And I’ll say a quick prayer for him too.Sleep Tight.

An emotional fellow is Chuck
And he sunk in some EVC muck
But a humble apology
Written poetically
Made even Straggler forgive the poor schmuckBut at least your a humble jerk.

I told Straggler there's Limerick rules
But he told me that rules are for fools
So I had to release
The limerick police
He's serving three years in limerick schoolSorry Straggler but I was on a kind of a roll.

To many would seem quite perverse
But a true limerick can
Like Keats or Whitman
Hide beauty which you can unearth

Well now that you learned there are laws
You probably found other flaws
Like limericks and sports
And in traffic court

But still there has to be cause
And this really should give you pause
Even if it is mindless
That is what is behind us
There’s still ignorance, turtles and flaws

Entropy begins and it ends
To say otherwise is just to pretend
So we have emerged from the whole
And when the new world unfolds
We’ll have an answer and talk of it then

Believing is different than knowing
So round and round we keep going
You believe what you do
Just as I believe too
With both of our biases showing

But to start there’s just two possibilities
And intelligence has more plausibility
That a non-intelligent start
That evolved someone as smart
As yourself, just lacks credibility

Now I do not reject any research
Good science I never besmirch
I’m eager to learn
What science discerns
There’s more to be learned than what’s in churchBut just to say we can’t know is a cop-out
We can’t just give up the question and drop-out
We all believe something
Whether it’s God or nothing
About what’s right and wrong when we’re in doubtYou always claimed to be atheistic
A view which seemed pessimistic
My wisdom though scant
Has caused you to recant
