I think this might be a good thing... let's call it the Palin effect (which it seems is already widely in use lol).... i.e. to bring Alex Jones on board would further alienate anyone remotely reasonable and drive Fox's ratings down by driving away all but the most extreme nutjobs (at least during his time slot). I agree with you about his rationality though, Jones seems ready to believe and regurgitate any ludicrous notion that involves the enslavement of the masses under the fascist banner of the Illuminati or NWO. Would it truly be so damaging to free speech if a law were drafted that required any program or publication that advertised itself as reporting or commenting on the real-world news of the day be required to make true statements, and let proven, intentional falsehoods be punishable? I believe Canada has just such a provision in it's news broadcasting regulations:CRTC ditches bid to allow fake news

Yes, that would be damaging to free speech. For it would end up with the law courts enforcing an official truth. It could result in a de facto theocracy. I am admittidly conflicted on this point. On the one hand I can appreciate the importance that freedom of speech has in developing and strengthening arguments for or against an idea and that this requires that the idea being presented not be censored. On the other hand, in my humble opinion, news should be a product for the common good, through the dissemination of facts and knowledge. Protecting citizens from the dissemination of falsehoods should be an important part of a regulatory spirit. Not enough censorship can be just as bad as too much, especially when a news source is couched as being fair and balanced and is patently not so. News programs should belong in the same category as our public school system. While we can not police everything that is taught in the schools (*recently Sharron Angle admitted she taught students creationism in her class), we can try to prevent falsehoods being promulgated through the system.* *Perhaps not the best analogy by any means, as I can see the holes, but I hope you get my drift.

Hi DBlevin
Protecting citizens from the dissemination of falsehoods should be an important part of a regulatory spirit. ... . News programs should belong in the same category as our public school system. Yes and it would be because they serve a public, rather than a private need\purpose.
While we can not police everything that is taught in the schools (*recently Sharron Angle admitted she taught students creationism in her class), we can try to prevent falsehoods being promulgated through the system.* It seems to me that a simple fix would be a requirement that IF anyone show a report on news to include false information, that the broadcasting company be required to air a retraction during the same news slot: "Yesterday we reported that .... and we now find that this information is false." It would be humorous to see how many retractions Faux Spews would need to air before they become more credible. Anybody could be the watchdog, anyone that watches the news and catches someone out (like the palm trees in Minnesota). quote: If Fox News lets him freewheel and just rage on about anything he wants, you most definately are right! But perhaps if the network offered him a bunch of money, to shut up about 9/11, reptilians and other stuff that Glenn Beck wouldnt have said, he could be a problem. However, i really dont think that Jones would be able to shut up about those things and Fox News is a pretty well run propaganda machine so i guess they wont dare to take the chance. Im about 99% sure they wont hire him, but i mentioned it anyways

Add "Tea Party" to pro-lifers or the gun-hoarders .... another group of gullible ignorant people that idolize being gullible & ignorant as long as it is gift wrapped in an american flag.
you left out Public Union Workers.
If anyone can explain to me how this behavior is justified, I'd like to see it.
if you just read one sided propaganda against another side, and already have your mind made up about them, I do not see how you are any different than those you are against. Are you perhaps a Thugocrat?

The first time I saw this video (on Facebook a couple of days ago) I literally felt sick to my stomach. I'm beginning to think that the union needs to end... that there should be two Americas; one that is a democratic, secular society based on equality, freedom and justice, and one for people like these protesters, "The Christian Republic of America" or something... grab your guns and your Bibles and head on down.
The urban industrial secular one could never survive without the other (there was an event in USA's past that started in 1861 and ended in 1865, if you would like to read about it), for the secularists to survive, the oppression of the rest of us must continue. Besides there would not be two nations it would be more city-states, surronded by everyone else. If you really dislike America, you know where the door is.

yep, just like Wyoming, and the Dakotas [sarcasm] nwr writes: That's the "One drop of blood" theory at work. Historically, blacks were often considered sub-human, and there's a residue of that history in American attitudes. Asians were usually treated as human, though they were subject to discrimination in past times. historically though it was determined matrilineally (see Sally Hemmings who was only 25% black), so in the Presidents case: from a White vagina = white.

Please enlighten this how this has anything to do with the civil war. Also, how are "non-secularists" oppressed?

Classic wingnut response when anyone wants to have an America at all different than the wingnuts fantasy. Ever notice how liberals never seem to tell right wingers to leave the country.

Not been to the coalfields have you? Maybe you might want to run by some of the large cattle and hog operations. Then tell me about toxic nightmares. Also you might notice those are some of the least populated states in the Union.

Bullshit. Another in a long line of unfounded assertions. In the US no matter if your mother or father was black, you were considered black. No matter how small the percentage you were still considered black. The thing is most mixed births during the slave era were of black mother and a white father. That is because the white father raped the mother. If a black man had sex with a white woman he would have probably been lynched whther it was consensual or not. Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

With the massive ability of broadcast networks to supply enough lawyers to stifle or slow-down just 'anyone' providing evidence of a lie, I would think that it would require some outside regulatory body, such as the FCC to police the networks. This would itself lend itself to critiques of "government" overreach.
How to go about implementing such a requirement could be tricky.

Really? So if we transported obama back to the segregated south would be able to eat at the same counter as his fellow whites, drink at the same water fountain, use the same restrooms, sit at the front of the bus? Buzsaw writes: I was four years in the USAF perhaps before you were born, defending the US from the ambitious determination of the USSR and Red China to impose atheistic communism on the planet. Nobody is a military dodger in an era when the military is totally voluntary as a career preference. I was in during the days of draft when you either volunteered or got drafted. After the draft, many went in for the personal benefits it afforded such as education, etc or the lack of another profession. I hope you're enjoying your benefits. People like enterprising rich Rush are paying their share on behalf of us vets. People like Rush and Beck are sentinels sounding the alarm of impending threats to our freedoms, doing a whole lot more than you or I could have in order to preserve the unique freedoms afforded in America. Hi Buz I'm probably at least as old as you. I was an officer in the Canadian forces and flew a Herc into Saigon during the Viet Nam war to supply the people that we had there who were in non-combat roles. My Christianity is central to my life. My wife is still an American citizen and one of my sons is now an American and as a result 4 out of 8 grand-kids are Americans. I love the US and would usually vote Republican if I could vote down there. My point is that we are very similar in background. Somehow though we seem to interpret our faith differently. Jesus lived in a country that was overrun by the Romans. How did he tell his fellow downtrodden countrymen that they were to overcome the Romans? He said that they were to love them; that they were to go the extra mile and turn the other cheek. He told them that if they continued to fight them militarily that they would be crushed and the temple destroyed which is exactly what happened in the war of 70AD. Jesus said that we are to love God and love our neighbour. In the "Good Samaritan" Jesus told his fellow Jews that they were to love and respect those whose religious views differed from their own. I have a hunch that message still applies today. The point is that we might win battles here and there by dropping bombs on people but the only way to win a war is by changing people's hearts. Just look at the 2 world wars in the last century. After WW I Germany was put under the thumb of the victors. Peace didn't last and as a result we had the rise of Nazism and WW II. After WW II the victors, and most specifically the US, helped in the rebuilding of Germany and Japan and as a result we are now allies. By branding all Muslims as terrorists I would suggest that Jesus would give the same message to us that he gave to first century Jews, which if we keep going down this road our societies will pay a heavy price. BY isolating moderate Muslims we make them more vulnerable to the sales pitch of the extremists. People are naturally tribal and everyone wants to feel that they belong to one tribe or another. Islamic extremism is a huge threat to our societies in my view as well, and as in 9/11 it only takes a small few to do incredible damage. Frankly the extremists are winning. Just look at what you have to go through to get on an airplane. The wars are bankrupting the western world. The best and most effective weapon we have against Islamic extremists is the moderate Muslim. There have been terrorist threats that have been thwarted in both Canada and Britain by the fact that moderate Muslims informed authorities of the impending threats. I wonder how these same moderates will react next time if they are isolated from main stream society, and been the object of racism. Maybe next time they will say nothing and just maybe some of the young hot heads will view Islamic extremism as a righteous cause. The prophet Micah tells us that what God wants of us is to love kindness, do justice and to walk humbly with our God. I think that is how we should live as individuals and that it should also be the basis of the foreign policy of our governments.JMHO Everybody is entitled to my opinion.

ahh pedantic as usual, i would expect no less from the likes of you.
Please explain this comment. RAZD was talking about guiliable ignorant people that idolize being guilible and ignorant. so I added one that he/she forgot, how is that hard to understand?
Classic wingnut response when anyone wants to have an America at all different than the wingnuts fantasy. Ever notice how liberals never seem to tell right wingers to leave the country. ROFLMFAO! Classic liberal response to call someone a name who does not share a similar opinion. Thoedoric's liberal definition of a wingnut - someone who disagrees with him. Ever notice how liberals (and thoedoric especially) ALWAYS reverts to name calling?
Also you might notice those are some of the least populated states in the Union. so what? YOU might notice feadandlothing was talking about Alaska, THE least 2nd populous state in the Union. I was on point, you as usual, are not. Why would I compare Alaska to say Rhode Island or Massachussets, I was comparing it to other low population states, that are run by consevatives. buy a clue.
Bullshit. Another in a long line of unfounded assertions. Bullshit to your buillshit. I guess you have never heard of Partus sequitur ventrem? here is the simple wiki on it:
quote: It was added to Virginia law in 1662.
In the US no matter if your mother or father was black, you were considered black. No matter how small the percentage you were still considered black. The thing is most mixed births during the slave era were of black mother and a white father. That is because the white father raped the mother. If a black man had sex with a white woman he would have probably been lynched whther it was consensual or not. care to support this with evidence, or are you just making stuff up again?
DBlevins writes: Video Thanks.
Link? Afaik status was determined by the states, and they differed on that determination. look above this text. or search Partus sequitur ventrem. what you said is fair enough, I really do not know about the other states, being a resident of Virginia, I know how it was here, and my examples thus far have been from Virginia.
DrJones writes: Really? So if we transported obama back to the segregated south would be able to eat at the same counter as his fellow whites, drink at the same water fountain, use the same restrooms, sit at the front of the bus? I was born in the late 1970s, I have no idea. But I do not see why not, he is white. How were Hawaiians treated in the segregated south?

Hi Aretemis Entreri
video does not exist. Curious then, how a clip from it got on the John Daily show ...The Daily Show with Trevor Noah - Season 27 - TV Series | Comedy Central US which, even while done for entertainment, is more accurate than Foux Spews ... you could also google it and find Protest in Orange County - Tea Party vs. Islam
no weirder than trying to take anything from the TYT Propaganda club. I always wonder what kind of person listens to their crap. sounds like a good recommendation, thanks. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheYoungTurks
you left out Public Union Workers. Can you show evidence of public union workers spreading hate rather than being the victims of it? Curiously that is the issue here.
