Interestingly there has been some reaction within the Tea "Party" to some of the rampant racism ...
https://www.youtube.com/v/-gKmPwm94gY?version=3 (this guy is ... weird?)
but then there is still rampant hate mongering of muslims ...
Protest in Orange County - Tea Party vs. Islam
Note the politicians that are on record as supporting this hate-mongering and catering to the jingoist xenophobia exhibited by ignorant people, gullible bigots that apparently think that all muslims are from foreign countries, all muslims are terrorists, that there are no law abiding US muslim citizens that are little different from you and I. I wonder if the Koch brothers funded this group too.
Just look at the bewildered faces of the children --- it breaks my heart.
Those of us that lived in the 60's, and were witness to the racist protests, saw people being hated just for the color of their skin, here we see people being hated just for their religion. We know that this evil has not gone away, and that what we see here is just another manifestation of jingoist xenophobic paranoia, because of ignorance.
Curiously, this hatred will not go away if these law abiding American Muslim citizens leave America, it will just fester further, because they are not the cause of intolerance and hate, they are the victims.
I do think the "Thuglican" hate shows (Rush, Beck et al) are responsible for fomentings and encouraging this vile behavior.
It is unconscionable to me that any political group that claims to support American values would condone or countenance such behavior, unless they cynically believe they (individually) are benefiting from it in some way ...
... and that gets me to todays Far Left Side cartoon and commentary:
Forbidden
quote:
Forest, Meet Trees
Let's make this perfectly clear, Republicans don't like you.
"You" is anyone that doesn't have millions in the bank. End of story.
This means they don't really like the pro-lifers or the gun-hoarders but these good folks are very convenient because they're naive enough to rush to the polls every time the GOP blows their dog whistles. Unfortunately, the inability of these groups to see past their Bibles or their NRA pamphlets have supplied Conservatives with all the ammunition they need to ruin this country.
Here's the deal in a nutshell... America, as the major consumer of crap in this world, can no longer continue in that role as its manufacturing base has basically collapsed. Real wages have declined over the past 30 post-Reagan years and it's going to get worse. After stripping the U. S. Treasury dry over the last 30 years Republicans are currently in the process of stealing the last major sources of wealth, namely the Social Security trust fund and worker pensions. After that, it'll be the rich sitting in their compounds watching the rest of us fight over what's left. We're Mexico, we're Bahrain, we're a banana republic.
Add "Tea Party" to pro-lifers or the gun-hoarders .... another group of gullible ignorant people that idolize being gullible & ignorant as long as it is gift wrapped in an american flag.
There's more, but that's enough for this thread.
If anyone can explain to me how this behavior is justified, I'd like to see it.
Enjoy.

I think the they want to keep people divided over as many things as possible, that way why we are busy fighting over abortion or gun control, that way they keep getting wealthier. Look at all the middle eastern and north African countries, not all the population was out in streets, but those who chose to stay home still supported the protesters. That is key in any overthrow of the govt. Che Guevara wrote a book in 60's called ' Guerilla Warfare' . The same conditions for a popular revolt apply still today, our leaders know this.
S. Palin is a self-serving @#$%$. I don't see how anybody with half a mind cant see that. LOL sorry to rant off topic a bit. For good coverage of middle east and n Africa I go to Al Jazeera live English web site, I am sure it has its own spin....but no worse than fox. lol

divide and conquer, think of it as a magicians trick they keep you busy with the right hand so you dont see whats happening with the left hand. Its the same all over the world. So while your buisy ranting over gay mariage, gun control, global warming, stem cell recherches ...... they can use their left hand to do shit you wont notice.
The pick pockets trick is the same one of the tricks is they show you a map and ask for direction put one arm on your shoulder so you dont notice the other hand stealing your money from your back pocket.

Funnily enough, the Tea party, when it started (back in early 2009), was about prosecuting banks essantially as well as politicians involved with them. It's just that they let them get distracted by the likes of Palin and all you have now is a Republican party bis.

Did you watch Beck, this week on the night that he had a room full of immigrants from the old Soviet Union and Ukraine? They spoke of what it was like to loose one's freedom and thrown in the gulag for such crimes as reading Alexander Solzhenitsyn?

I suppose the entire Obama is a Kenyan, Muslim, Communist, Antichrist, trope is truth as opposed to simple-minded propaganda of the worst sort (see Wiemar Republic).
Perhaps if you watched and listened regularly as I do, your understanding and knowledge of the danger we are all in due to ignorance of folks like you regarding what these entities are aspiring to achieve in the nation and the world at large will be increased.
Have you ever considered something other than your puny godlets as a source of information? Like history, philosophy, economics, science, and so on. No instead of Jesus, Socrates, Buddha, and Confucius (apologies to Russell for name dropping), instead we get Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, and Palin.
Did you watch Beck, this week on the night that he had a room full of immigrants from the old Soviet Union and Ukraine? They spoke of what it was like to loose one's freedom and thrown in the gulag for such crimes as reading Alexander Solzhenitsyn?
Were you there when I was in the US Army in intelligence doing my small part to defeat the old USSR, or were you hiding out with your heroes, child Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Limbaugh, and the other military service dodgers?
Perhaps before you speak of freedom, you should look at what your masters of all information, the Australians Murdoch and Ham, are doing to relegate all non-rich humans to the days of slavery and serfdom.
If anything, may the people who crave freedom and democracy; of Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Yemen, and Libya, provide an example of what the oppressed can do be they the Americans of 1776, the French of 1789, the Eastern Europeans of 1989, or indeed the poor and middle class Americans of 2011.
In closing may I paraphrase a great sage, Buz, had you not been born, then Fox News would have to invent you.

The idea of the sacred is quite simply one of the most conservative notions in any culture, because it seeks to turn other ideas - uncertainty, progress, change - into crimes.

Thank you for a timely and important topic.
The people in the Orange County protest are yelling "Go back home! Go back home!" to individuals who have lived in the USA their entire lives and who were attending a fundraiser to help the homeless in the USA.
The first time I saw this video (on Facebook a couple of days ago) I literally felt sick to my stomach. I'm beginning to think that the union needs to end... that there should be two Americas; one that is a democratic, secular society based on equality, freedom and justice, and one for people like these protesters, "The Christian Republic of America" or something... grab your guns and your Bibles and head on down.

I was four years in the USAF perhaps before you were born, defending the US from the ambitious determination of the USSR and Red China to impose atheistic communism on the planet.
Nobody is a military dodger in an era when the military is totally voluntary as a career preference. I was in during the days of draft when you either volunteered or got drafted. After the draft, many went in for the personal benefits it afforded such as education, etc or the lack of another profession.
I hope you're enjoying your benefits. People like enterprising rich Rush are paying their share on behalf of us vets. People like Rush and Beck are sentinels sounding the alarm of impending threats to our freedoms, doing a whole lot more than you or I could have in order to preserve the unique freedoms afforded in America.

thanks Brit for posting that...kept me from having to look at or read their bs. If any of you are familiar with Alex Jones the radio talk show conspiracy nut, then you might already know Fox has been talking with him. He will fit in well there, although his rants on chem trails and FEMA camps ect... will be good entertainment if they let him say what he wants..
This is off-topic... The new US Navy commercials... " The United States Navy a global force of good"

Shamocracy
Well of course the shit is hitting the fan; but America knew that was going to happen back in 1787 when it decided to go with one of the most easily corruptible systems of government ever conceived. It sounds like a good idea, but each person having to trust his prosperity to 50%+1 of the population is really just a mistrusting disaster waiting to happen.
Rule by the people is anarchy, folk, no matter how just it may also be.

Could you identify even a single "impending threat to our freedoms" that either Rush or Beck were able to do something about? Something that wasn't just a complete conservative fever dream, like "death panels", but something that was a legitimate threat to American freedom that they were able to forestall.
What about the legitimate threats to American freedom that Rush and Beck have been fore-square in support of, such as the rendition, torture, and detention without trial of American citizens? For instance, what are the thoughts of Beck and Rush on PFC Bradley Manning, currently being held and tortured by our own Army without trial?

One can mine quote controversial statements from any media source. I don't see any blatant falsehoods among your examples; mostly mine quoted out of context.
Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Obviously all you know about Beck and Limbaugh is from mine quoted stuff which his critics have touted on their websites, rather than from listening consistently to all of the pertinent knowledge which these American patriots reveal.

NEW CASTLE, For the time political campaigns have been moving to centrism, integrating voter blocs and appealing to unity, scattered groups across New England have been moving to fractionalize, to break their states from the union.
Burt Cohen, 57, a former state senator, is leading a front in New Hampshire to secede from the U.S., and join with Maine, Vermont, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Gasp Peninsula to create a new authority called New Acadia or Novacadia based on maps of a 1702 maritime union.
Secessionists draw the soul of their ideas from the 1957 Leopold Kohr book The Breakdown of Nations in which Kohr argued social and economic failures are due to a deplorable condition of bigness, he said.
The logic is based on the idea that individuals, cities and regions have diverse economic and political interests; once a population becomes too large, resources and taxes are not fairly dispensed and a government fails to provide adequate representation, he said.
Sometimes (often?) I think that the remainder of the US would have been better off if Lincoln had let the South secession happen.

The Second Civil War?
"It does not seem to trouble either Rove or Bush that they are moving us toward a Twenty-first Century civil war -- and that, once again, Southern conservatism is at its core"
Civil War states (1861-1865): red - Confederacy, blue - Union,
yellow - not yet states, green - non aligned
We could have ended up with a Northern Union of States (with the constitution), a Southern Confederacy of States (with their articles of confederation), and perhaps a Western Alliance of States ... and let Alaska go to Canada.
Enjoy.
