You guys intellecually are not much different than the old Catholic heirarchy, it seems.
That's an absurd comparison. I have read ID books, and have nothing whatsoever to say about their continued publication or reading by the public.
What I am having problems with is ID material being presented in a specific location, where it will undoubtedly lend undo reputation to the material, and worse still defies the very criteria that Institute has for holding events.
I wouldn't have written if the SI allowed any and all kind of events at its facilities.
Perhaps, you can explain what the showing is besides religious, political, or commercial if it is not scientific (which is essentially what the SI disclaimer means).
And you claim to be willing to give ID a fair hearing?
Yes. The SI is not where "hearings" on scientific theories are held. The scientific community is where such hearings are held. Produce and it will be hard for the community not to take notice.
I have created threads here asking for recent work, as well as postulating possible practical uses for an design detecting mechanism. You are certainly free to contribute to them. As of yet IDists have stayed shy of them (even the totally nice one on practical uses).
Isn't it pretty obvious that ID proponents are simply trying to use the name of SI to pretend it is prestigious enough to get "hearings" there?

The latest news is that the S.I. is not longer 'co-sponsering' the event, and that it returned the fee. However, the event is still going on, but the S.I. rents out the space to everyone anyway.

Their returning the fee and STILL playing the movie, doesn't seem to solve the problem. In fact that makes it worse, that means they're giving IDists what they want for free.
From what I understand they do not just rent out space to everyone. At another forum it was said that they specifically do not allow events of a commercial, partisan, or religious nature. But I am open to evidence to the contrary

HELP
I am confused by the level of resistance. Truth will eventually expose falsehood. All things must either stand or fall on their own merits. Diversity of ideas should always be welcome, even false ideas, which eventually reveal themselves as such. Heck, the TOE is living proof of this. The TOE as taught today has been proven a bankrupt theory and yet there is still much support for it. Proof that new realities are rarely embraced by those who refuse to acknowledge their stripes even when standing in front of a mirror.

Re: HELP
Hello Eltonian, and welcome to EvC.
In my signature box you will find many helpful links, including our Forum Guidelines. It is helpful for all new members to read through the rules and hints available there. Another useful area to read is The Post of the Month forum. Here you will find some of the best that EvC has to offer as far as cogent, well written posts go.
I have one strong "suggestion." Please remove the image from your signature. You are deep linking to someone else's website, using their bandwidth for a signature line. Deep linking is an issue that has come up here before and I'm not comfortable with it, especially for a picture that is being used in such a personal fashion.
Pictures of your own can be used as an avatar under your name to the left of your posts. The avatar upload area is found at the very bottom of your "Profile" page, accessed from the left end of the very topmost menu line.
Once again welcome to EvC.

Re: HELP
Do not continue the "bankrupt" discussion here. It is not the topic of this thread.
Well, no, that is the whole thing. People are opposing a valid theory, that is quite robust, and has much evidence for it, on the basis of religious belief. That is what the ID people are doing. The vast majority of people who oppose the concepts of evolution don't KNOW what evolution really is.
Why do you say it is bankrupt?

Re: HELP
Do not to this post here. It is not the topic of this thread.
I base my assessment on a number of factors, not the least of which is the growing reality within the science community itself that Darwins' theory does not stand well against modern science. I am well aware that certain diehards will never abandon the Darwinian concept of evolution, regardless of any evidence that points them in other directions. I ask no one to abandon their beliefs without due cause. Believe what you will, ignore any evidence that contradicts your beliefs, it's your life to do with as you please.

Topic!
Eltonian, This is NOT the topic of this particular thread. Please find somewhere else to put forward your ideas. If no current thread seems suitable you may propose a new one.
You suggest evidence that contradicts the "beliefs" of those who accept evolution. In an appropriate thread you will be expected to put forward and defend that evidence.
Do not sprinkle unsupported statements around in in appropriate threads.
