Re: Problem resolved the old-fashioned way
All right, we don't have much else of a choice.
Here is how it works: Some of you will be simultaneously playing 2 games against 2 people who I am randomly selecting through lots. So you will be playing a total of 4 games at a time.
When challenged to play you MUST be both White and Black when playing the same player.
Here's the first bracket.
1. Piltdownrook (Apothecus) vs Hooah212002 (x's 2)
2. Paradigm_Lost (Hyroglyphx) vs Slevesque (x's 2)
3. Hydraulic_Organ (Caffeine) vs Ceithearnach (Son Goku) (x's 2)
4. CosmicChimp vs Piltdownrook (Apothecus) (x's 2)
5. Omnivorous vs Hydraulic_Organ (Caffeine) (x's 2)
6. Hotjer vs Paradigm_Lost (Hyroglyphx) (x's 2)
7. Slevesque vs Hooah212002 (x's 2)
8. CosmicChimp vs Slevesque (x's 2)
9. Hotjer vs Ceithearnach (Son Goku) (x's 2)
For the opening match, each of you have 2 matches (4 games) with the exception of Omnivorous because we have an odd number of players.
Should your games result in a tie (either 1 to 1 or 2 draws) you must play one more game to determine who goes on to the finals.
Please report all winnings on this forum so that I and Caffeine can keep track.
Also, be sure to set your games at 3-days per move minimum. If you feel like your game will time-out, you have the option to extend time.
So get started! Look at who you are matched with and challenge them on Gameknot. Remember to play one game White and one game Black for each game.

Slevesque & Piltdownman request a game with me I will find it soon afterwards. Random color to start or choose a color you want to start with.

It doesn't matter just as long as you play both White and Black since you play each player a minimum of 2 times.
I've started my 2 games with Hotjer but am still awaiting for Slevesque to accept my challenge.

I take back what I said about the 3 day wait. I actually rather enjoy being able to take my time in regards to moves. I've never played chess this way.

"Some people think God is an outsized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow. Othersfor example Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einsteinconsidered God to be essentially the sum total of the physical laws which describe the universe. I do not know of any compelling evidence for anthropomorphic patriarchs controlling human destiny from some hidden celestial vantage point, but it would be madness to deny the existence of physical laws."-Carl Sagan

I prefer to play fast but sometimes you can't sit down and play a whole chess game because you have things to do. It's nice to be able to 1. Analyze each move and 2. Be able to leave and take care of more immediate matters.

Ack! Does this mean I've coralled myself into keeping score? Oh well. I'm not entirely sure how you're working this though. What happens after this first round?
ABE: I've sent you all friend requests on gameknot, which should make it easier to keep track of what's going on. If it's okay by everyone, can we keep all the games public, so as to spy on each other's performances?
Edited by caffeine, : No reason given.

Small change of plans
It just dawned on me that in a regular mini-tournament, you play each player twice regardless. That is what we will do too. We will count up wins, and whomever has the most will win the whole tournament. In the event of a tie, a best out of 3 game series will be determine the tie-breaker.
Had we had access to the software to do this for us, this is what it would look like.
A win constitutes 1 point, a draw constitutes 1/2 point.
Feel free to challenge whomever you want, whenever you want. Just be sure to play each player twice and to alternate between White and Black pieces.
Also be sure to post all wins in here so I can keep track.
For your convenience, these are players and their respective screen names:
1. Piltdownrook (Apothecus)
2. Hooah212002
3. Paradigm_Lost (Hyroglyphx)
4. Slevesque
5. Hydraulic_Organ (Caffeine)
6. Ceithearnach (Son Goku)
7. CosmicChimp
8. Omnivorous
9. Hotjer

Re: Small change of plans
Et voila. I accidentally made this smaller than intended, but it's already uploaded now. I can update this periodically (and make it bigger), so that we know where we stand. In the 'Games' column, the three numbers stand, respectively, for games in progress, completed games, and games yet to begin.
By the way, don't be offended if i refuse any of your challenges. I can just only take so many games at the same time!

Re: Win for Hyro
You had to go and make my pretty little table outdated even before I'd finished making it, didn't you? Well, I'm still not updating it till tomorrow, so there.

Totally fine. This isn't a race. I like to play fast, but that's my own preference.
No one feel rushed, please. Only play as fast or accept as many games as you want to. That goes for everyone.... Just don't time out. 3 days should be sufficient. If you go away on holiday or otherwise won't have computer access, you can set more time. Just don't abuse it.

We should have invited Sarfati, he would have definitely kicked our asses.
I done some playing today, but I'll have to stop my games (currently 4 running. 1 more advanced then the others because I like to focus) for today since my brothers coming to visit.
Btw, this was a great idea

Having a good time ravaging my queen there, Hooah?
I'm at work right now and can't access gameknot but I'll move when I get home.
Hopefully I don't end up oh-fer in this tourney. But it's fun nonetheless.
Good idea, Hyro.
