You keep saying that. Demonstrate that you're right by choosing to believe in Santa Claus.

Yes.
So you're saying that people locked in a room with a homicidal maniac will suddenly choose to believe in God? You said there would be no atheists in such a situation.

We're not talking about believers switching boats. We're talking about unbelievers switching boats.

Right. Unbelievers chose based on the evidence. In the locked room, the evidence changes. Death becomes more of a reality. A dying man will grasp at straws.
On the other hand, your argument also has support.

The absence of God becomes a reality too.

Re: Never Hurts To Believe In Eternity
I remember a while back hearing that the last words recorded by the black box in an aircraft just before it crashes are 'oh fuck'. They don't appear to be praying.
Also, it always amuses (wrong word) me when you hear Muslims thanking Allah for sparing them when hundreds around them have been blown to pieces. What is going on here? Apparently god has nothing to do with the horrors just the luck of individuals.
But it gets dafter, apparently god has saved them from the ultimate fabulousness of being by his side. These survivors are grateful to be alive, when in fact they should be really annoyed about missing out on an opportunity all their friends are now enjoying.
It seems to me that the suicide bombers are the true believers.

At least in that situation, even if they were praying, I could understand the rationale.
What baffles me is sports fans praying to god for their respective team to win the game. An omniscient super entity that created the universe has nothing better to do with his/her time than to ensure the Dallas Cowboys or Pittsburgh Steelers win their games? Now THAT is amusing.

I think that's pretty much proof that the whole prayer thing is simple superstion.

Ahteists must believe that the Dark Matter is the remnants of the God of Atheists (consisting of very special god-particles) - who was the very first Suicide Bomber! He detonated the Big Bang Bomb (presumably attached at his navel, see below) and died starting the universe.
Obviously, this is the best explanation of why the heck they are insisting that he does not exist.
( - and that also explains why, in Hinduism, the universe is emerging from the "Vishnu Navel".)

By the way, if you want to reply to a specific message, there's a little "reply" button in the lower right-hand corner of each message, right beside the "peek" button. If you use that one instead of the big "Gen Reply" button at the bottom of the page, people can tell who you're talking to and what you're referring to.
