What do people think of a blocking feature - people you block couldn't reply to your messages
I think all that would happen is that they'd either use general reply, or reply to someone else's post, in order to reply. Thus messing up the single best feature of this board: it's wonderful 'reply to'.

*clears throat*
Could everyone please be quiet... if you notice, I have re-mounted my soapbox. That's the signal for you to be quiet.
Perdition writes:
For instance, you could enable it in the coffeehouse, book nook, and free-for-all fora that are great and fun, but aren't exactly the most heavily moderated, making it an ideal test-bed for the feature without bringing damnation to the actual debate threads.
I think Perdition has a great idea here. And one that would be really cool to add to your final product anyway, if you have the time.
I think the ignore feature and blocking feature would belittle the respectful and professional atmosphere that is EvC.
I think your final product needs to include an ingore feature and a blocking feature in order to offer the same options that other similar products would have, and therefore be competitive.
I think you should also deal with the issue raised by Mr. Jack (that a blocked person could use the general reply button...) But I would have the ignore feature be controlled as a global all-forum aspect chosen by the profile-user. I would also have the block function be a per-thread feature (not global) that is controlled by the thread-starter. That way it wouldn't matter if someone used the reply button or general reply... their whole account would be blocked from the entire thread.
*remains on the soapbox for 5 minutes of silence while making sure that everyone is respecting my authoritay.
Okay, you may talk amongst yourselves once again. Please respect the soapbox, we're not 12 years old, I'm 31! (That makes me automatically mature).

I for one think you look marvelous up on that soapbox, and if you wish, I will make it my priority to "enforce" the quiet that is necessary to let your words of wisdom propagate through the skulls of all the riffraff in attendance.

Since you are not "clearing your throat" can you use a more appropriate post title -- This time and all times?
