Re: a try at clarification
this is an application of occams razor i think is some cases, why is there a need for multipul gods, when one would be enough
we do know that forces arn't the production of many gods so theres not really a need more more than one, I suppose
I would have to say the need for a god is a given for some people it may very well be a fantasy, but the way i see it there could be some sort of force out there, god or not, sometimes its all just the old "whats the sound of one hand clapping"
Is there any evidence at all that there is a god of any kind?
if there is a god, maybe the evidence is there or we are looking in the wrong place, i agree that there should be a flag telling us that stuff is designed, or maybe gods evidence is the forces of nature
other wise since i am human i only have my human prespective filtered through what i know and believe

Re: a try at clarification
Are you say there is no evidence? With out a reason to acknowledge a god's existance how do we get the idea it's there in the first place?

Why is it so hard to believe in God? I don't understand it. There's plenty of logical arguments for God's existence and no solid arguments agaisnt the concept. There's no reason not to believe. The universe has a definite beginning according to science, and the universe cannot come from nothing. Remeber- Out of nothing comes nothing, or matter cannot be creatwed nor destroyed only transformed. There is no evidence against the idea of God.

Welcome in country Tiger
Welcome to EvC Tiger
Why is it so hard to believe in God?
Wait around a little while, Tiger. And you'll see. Every argument under the sun that is possible to present will be showcased here. Best wishes on your attempts to dole out reading glasses.
As to your argument. I would have to concur with my non-believing compatriots here. A lack of evidence (and you must see it from their perspective) against something is not the same thing as evidence for something - especially when the evidence can point more in more than one direction
Take your time. Expect that resistance will be fierce. And you will do well.

Which god?
The Tiger writes:
Why is it so hard to believe in God?
To answer that question, it might help if you specify which god you mean.

Did you know that most of the time your computer is doing nothing? What if you could make it do something really useful? Like helping scientists understand diseases? Your computer could even be instrumental in finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. Wouldn't that be something? If you agree, then join World Community Grid now and download a simple, free tool that lets you and your computer do your share in helping humanity. After all, you are part of it, so why not take part in it?

Ik heb geen idee waar je het over hebt. Maar ik zal het even laten rusten.
Anyway, I don't think it's polite to use a language most people here don't understand. I won't answer in Dutch again.

Hello, Tiger.
quote:
There's plenty of logical arguments for God's existence...
Most of the "logical" arguments I have seen for God's existence are little more than "word salad".
-
quote:
There's no reason not to believe.
Since there are those who do not believe, this is evidently false.
-
quote:
... the universe cannot come from nothing.
This comes up a lot on this message board, but so far I have never seen a good explanation why this must be true.
-
quote:
There is no evidence against the idea of God.
Sometimes the absense of evidence can be taken as evidence of absense.

Welcome to EvC, Tiger. I look forward to your contributions.
