Apparently, there are new developments as reported by, errr, the Discovery Channel.
quote:
Aug. 21, 2006 ”According to a 2004 paper published in the journal Nature, a population of tiny, human-like individuals lived on the remote Indonesian island of Flores thousands of years ago.
But an international team of researchers, including one scientist who worked on the initial study, now say no evidence supports the theory that so-called "hobbit humans" ever existed.
I feel confused now. It sounded like thousands of details were all pointing to a so far unknown species of hominids. OTOH the article I just linked to does not sound like a reputable source, rather like some Discovery Channel staff going about to interview a few dissidents. What do you guys think about this news? I surely hope it is pure journalism and nothing more.

I also seem to remember the claim that hobbits lived on Flores for 800k years. Whatever the basis of that claim, Eckhardt must address it. I wonder how he plans to do it; the sneak preview articles so far ignore the issue.
