Re: seriously
You must have a lot of time on your hands.
Part of being an admin is you have to read every post on the forum to make sure that the rules are enforced. Since this is an adult forum, it's a lot better. I was a moderator for a teen forum a couple years back. I had to read every post and everytime I saw a bad word I had to edit it out. One time, someone honest to god asked if the forum had a program that automatically edit out bad words. Another mod jokingly said yes and everyone believed him. This went on for a while before someone pointed out some imperfections in the program and told us that the program wasn't catching some of the bad words. Little did they know that that program was the team of mods and the engine running the program was our brains and fingers.
It's more work than you think. I don't know why anyone would want to spend the time going through the posts and moderate them, and you will definitely find that most of the posts are outside your interest (aka boring).

1)How does someone become an Administrator or a moderator?
Phat writes:
Adminnemooseus recruited me several years ago. Usually, they approach you rather than the other way around, but of course you can ask. Its just that few folks do.
2)is there a forum where people can apply for it?
Phat writes:
Nope. Thats why this topic that you created is chugging merrily along. Like I said, not too many people are knocking the forum door down clamoring to become administrators.
3)do the Administrators choose certain members or do they observe a members ability to follow and set an example to the other members, about the forum guidelines?
Phat writes:
See # 1 and # 2 above.
4)What kind of aspects are acceptable in becoming a Administrator or Moderator?
Phat writes:
Ideally, as Teen 4 Christ points out, one must accept doing a variety of day in day out chore work, although not many of us do it consistently. They expect us to at least pay attention while we are here, and having a team of administrators helps. Its just like my job at the grocery store...5 employees may be on the clock, yet only 2 of us are actually working at any given moment.
5)What is needed, in order to be given Administrative or Moderator Privileges?
  • Maturity, of course.
  • An addiction to EvC in general, so as to be here alot..
  • If a science administrator, one must have a basic knowledge of what science is.
  • If a creationist administrator, one must have a basic knowledge of what creationism is and a respect for different views and beliefs.
Any more questions, young man? Or have we successfully talked you out of it?
Edited by Phat, : fixed quote, hopefully

Amen, by all means don't let Phat's words deter you. If you want to be an admin that bad, go for it. If you really like reading people's posts that much, I say you're the perfect candidate.
Personally, I think this place is a lot better than where I moderated. Seriously, people here are coherent. It's a wonder how some people write the way they do and survived high school English at all. Sometimes, I ran into long strings of jibberish and incoherent thought pattern.

    Don't question. Just obey.
