FYI
The proposed topic Universe appears to be copied and pasted from WikiAnswers.
Is it odd that an answer is being posted as a question?

I certainly wouldn't be against a formal policy if some feel this would help the image of EvC as being a fair place.
I have no personal gripe against you and I do not support any inferences of privilege abuse, but I do think it is impossible to be objective about your own posts.
IMHO, insisting on moderators having their OPs critiqued by other moderators will only improve the quality of the thread topics.
I am sure that we all want that.

Anyone had a look at Message 1 in New theory about evolution between creationism and evolution.?
If so, I have two questions:
1) What on earth does this mean?
"But if we look carefully, we will see that exactly these functions are they who very clearly relate with some of basic mechanisms and faces of evolution."
2) Does anyone else think that zi ko is describing individuals evolving?
Even if you don't want to discuss it, the topic proposal is...an interesting read.

I think he might really be talking about learning rather than about evolution...
I read it again (after it was reformatted).
S/he appears to be saying that our environment forces are neural system to make our bodies evolve.
We 'learn' to make changes to our DNA (I think).
zi ko writes:
These changes are then transmitted between generations by empathy.
How all these informational staff ... could be transferred to next generations, so to be able to gear evolutionary process?
a) Through heredity? It is not logical, except if we accept that neural tissue has its own way to inherit its life experiences.
b) Through behavioral teaching? It is not convincingly possible. After all teaching may involve only technical information, not emotions.
Maybe we should need to resort to EMPATHY. Its presence is well established even in low scale living beings, and particularly between mother and offspring.
These changes are then passed to the next generation by empathy.
That is not exactly a satisfactory description of how genetic diseases are passed to our children.
Or maybe it is only 'good things' that are passed on by empathy. Who knows.

i realised the danger of restricting my theory to individual evolving. that is why i resorted to empathy.
empathy has nothing to do with genetic diseases.
by empathy only emotional experiences are transmitted and mainly those who help survival and as a general feeling.
If only emotional experiences are inherited, what emotions do trees have?
And what effect do these empathetically transmitted emotions have on the progeny?
Currently, it simply sounds like you are describing a parent educating its child about the world.
What is the difference between empathic inheritance and education?

Message 1
I am having problems with John 10:10's claim that "the Jeremy's of this world" reject a divine creator.
The linked review of an autobiography of 2 scientists makes no mention of how Jeremy thinks the universe was created.
No, the problem with the Jeremy’s of this world is that they will allow themselves to consider mutation as the reason why life could evolve from the first life form to where we are today, but totally reject the truth that only a Divine Creator could create the universe and all life therein, and only a Divine Redeemer can sustain His creation.
This seems completely unfounded - Jeremy has not made any statement regarding his belief in a creator.
And there is no intrinsic problem with believing in evolution and not believing in a god.
Perhaps a request could be made to clarify what John 10:10's assertion is based on and how it is problematic to believe in evolution but not in god?

Flat earth
I did a search in google for "how can we test if the earth is round" (as suggested by AdminChuck) and the first link provides several answers to Txomin's question.
I call shenanigans.

I am not so sure.
Just one link (at the top of google) provides more than enough information to answer a "Think high-school education or less" homework question.
I am wondering if he is a Flat-Earther or someone with a similar belief - but thinks that if we knew it would prevent him starting a new thread...or something like that.

The Big Bang shows the universe had a beginning.
How does "something has a beginning" mean that "something was designed"?

THE EVOLUTION DELUSION

I think someone should simply point out that he can't even do simple subtraction.
(TBH: I think that his calculator couldn't handle that many digits.)

Re: THE EVOLUTION DELUSION
The reply in on Yahoo was perhaps better suited:
quote:
5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 - 180,000,000,000,000,000 =
5,973,599,820,000,000,000,000,000
Or maybe like this is better still...
5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000,000
          180,000,000,000,000,000 -
5,973,599,820,000,000,000,000,000
Though I doubt that alkimizta2012 will read this.
