Hominid Missing Link is Australo- not Homo-

Beg to differ oh great moose.
The thread you directed me to had an intermediate between homo erectus and homo sapiens.
This one is between Australopithicus afarensis (Lucy) and Ardipithecus ramidus, and in the species called Australopithicus amensis.
Yes the location is roughly the same -- that is what adds to the importance of this discovery, as it shows the lineage of ancestry in the same place.

Re: Attn RAZD: Re: Your mega-PNT in progress
While your "Age Correlations and An Old Earth, Version 2 Part I" topic is looking to be quite a opus (insert favorite Penguin joke here), it seems to be way to massive and diverse to qualify as a proper debate topic (not that that stopped the previous edition).
It really is not much longer than the original, mostly rearranged a little and with some new information incorporated.
It seemed to me that using replies to break up the "opus" would make it more accessible and lead to discussions on the different parts (some of which never got attention in the old format.
Thanks for holding off on commenting on the thread itself - I appreciate that. I have about 3 more "replies" to go to be done before starting (ug) cleanup, but don't know when I'll get to them ... it's too late tonight.
Let me finish and then we can discuss this issue.

Re: Attn RAZD: Re: Your mega-PNT in progress
One of my personal goals is to bring the references up to columnist corner standards used on my other column, and that will require some work at this point.
Certainly the points you and moose have raised are valid, and I am flattered as well.
For discussion one can always pull out a "step-bystep" approach as I tried to do with "relative" (aka "simple" "whisper" "whatever" etc) in Age Correlations, step by step.

Re: Attn RAZD: Re: Your mega-PNT in progress
Okay.
I'll change it to
The bottom line is that the evidence of an old earth is as overwhelming as the data that the earth is an oblate spheroid that orbits the sun. In fact one could say that the evidence for an old earth is more accessible and easier to comprehend than the evidence that invalidates the geocentric model of the universe.
Thus any "Young Earth Creationist" (YEC) that persists in their belief - in spite of all the evidence to the contrary - is no more rational than any "geocentrist" holding on to their mistaken belief.
So you have the option. Choice. Free will.
Enjoy.

Simple and the Simple World
http://EvC Forum: Natural laws in the past? -->EvC Forum: Natural laws in the past?
Simple was told he could start a topic on any subject, and he has done so. The faults of the topic are not so much his fault as they are typical of creationists in general and simple in specific.
You cut them all kinds of slack on other areas, and I agree that they are necessary due to the usual limitations of the creationist view of reality (that it isn't.)
So I say promote the topic and let the cards fall where they may. It gives him a place to blather away to no consequence.
Besides, we all know where he is going with this, and that the actual topic doesn't matter to him.
Enjoy.

RickCHodgin - Infra-red Eyes, no less ...
RickCHodgin makes a typical creationist first post, in Evolution would've given us infrared eyesight ...
... he gives a long explanation of why infra-red eyes would be a good design feature, and then concludes that because we do not have such a feature, that we must be designed.
You may want to ask him if he really wants to post that, and if he is ready for a piling on of responses.
Enjoy.

Hi Panda,
I did a google on "flat earth test" and also got many hits with examples, however the top ones were from flat earthers showing how they "refuted" the tests and explained how the earth could be flat -- fascinating reading.
