Re: All I can find...

Otherwise they would have to acknowledge Lot as the greatest coward in all history, which they steadfastly refuse to do
I don't quite get it. But that's fine, I agree God had a message there for the good of all mankind. The bible, unless actually believed as literal where possible, (some things are obviosly not), becomes about as valuable as toilet paper. If we can't actually believe it, I figure, why bother with it?

By jove, I think he's got it
simple reasons, albeit parenthetically:
quote:
some things are obviosly not
YES!!! That's right! Some things in the bible are obviously NOT believable in any literal sense.
Regarding Lot the Coward, you said:
quote:
I don't quite get it.
Then you need to read it again.

Re: OT: Piri Reis map
Yes there are two side to every issue. It was attacked with a lot of vigor, as some didn't want old ages to be questioned.
You are assuming why the woo-woo interpreatation was attacked. The references I gave made it clear that the woo-woo- interpretqataiion is just plain wishful thinking and bad science.
Enough of antartica was mapped to make it of interest.
The evidence indicates that none of Antarctica was mapped.
Very well could be based on some pre flood information, passed on, though. Or even recreated by memory by Noah's family afterward, and passed down?
So, a map that doesn't bear any resemblance to Antarctica or the known and tracked plate movements could be based on a version of Antarctica for which we have no evidence?
Bought any good bridges lately? I got one for sale, great location, easy access to Manhatten ...

Mountain cultures
simple writes:
You know, they actually have on old map, they say helped Columbus.
When presented with such a sentence, I always have to ask who "they" are...
simple writes:
Mountains? Coul;d be. I think Walt Brown, of the hydroplate theory has it that there was a lot of uplift at the time. So, pre flood, if he's right, the mountains would have been a lot smaller.
How much smaller? Please give an equilvant sized mountain range existing today.
If smaller mountains are the norm preflood then it's likely that there are people living on these smaller mountains. Wouldn't mountains be a fine place to find preflood artifacts?
simple writes:
Ararat may be our mt Ararat, though some say it was an older name for some forgotten mountain or range in the vicinity.
Just as I ask you who "they" are, I must ask you who "some" is...
simple writes:
One of the Moon astronauts, as I hear it found God, and actually died trying to climb it!
Why was he so convinced? Did he know something? I can't say.
You do know that you've disqualified you're entire statement with the words, "as I hear it", don't you? I can easily respond:
As I hear it, this unnamed moon astronaut actually made it to the peak and found the ark itself. He didn't die, however. God took him straight into heaven.
simple writes:
I sure believe in the ark, and the flood, though.
I would consider the ark a definite preflood artifact and a remarkable find.
Can I ask you to elaborate on how the flood totally eradicated evidence of the preflood culture, maps included?
thanx

James Irwin, Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 15, and the 8th man to walk on the moon, did not die on an Ark trip. He died of a heart attack in Glenwood Springs, CO, August 8th, 1991. He was 61.
Glenwood Springs was where the organization he had founed, High Flight, was headquartered. They had run several (I think 2 but I don't remember exactly) expeditions to find the Ark.
