Re: A layman looks at the evidence.
except, of course, the spores and pollen fit the age of the rock as dated by the standard model.
There isn't the mixing that would have occured if all this sediment was the result of 'the flood'.

Re: A layman looks at the evidence.
I have to agree with jar. The subject is fossil evidence. Others will ask for clarification or state when issues are being evaded. When presented with evidence or questions concerning your stated views on the subject, to step over them begins to look like evasion.

    Number of fossils = number of transitionals?
    There are, in fact, as many transitional fossils as there are fossils, because every species is in a constant state of transition.
    Maybe I'm missing something but this doesn't seem right to me - species can go extinct without being the ancestor of a subsequent species.
    Take the dinosaurs as the most obvious example. They were all transitional right up to the mass extinction at the K-T boundary. Every dinosaur species extant 65 million years ago isn't an ancestor of any species - they all dead-ended[1].
    Even if I'm correct this is only a nit-pick and in no way detracts from your overall points to Faith.
    [1]I think birds had evolved long before the K-T extinction event, so even though birds are child species of dinosaurs their ancestor species weren't still around 65 million years ago.

    Re: A layman looks at the evidence.
    Those "rivers" are most likely runoff from the flood waters, and tidal backdraw during the receding of the flood between deposition of layers.
    Not likely....when you have whole systems of "fossilized" rivers and can find sandbars, deltas, etc., in them, buried a half-mile beneath Bartlesville, Oklahoma - and with other sediments beneath them in turn, all containing oil....I don't think you can make that scenario fly.

    temporary closure - reopened
    I hope this is an acceptable move.
    I'm closing this thread, a thread I started, because it has too many topics going and has gotten out of hand and I need time if I'm going to deal with even the few things on it that I want to pursue.
    ======
    Reopened. Have at it. I will simply stay away until I'm up to coming back to it.
