If I was an Intelligent Designer and could make a living thinking person with the ability to be ungrateful, recalcitrant and blasphemous, I'd probably also give him the gift of self determination.

A paranoid Designer!

A paranoid Intelligent Designer! I think I'd prefer it the way it is, I'm just not comfortable with paranoids.

Re: A paranoid Designer!
Sorry, I don't follow. Why would actually taking care to make a great creation imply that the ID was paranoid?
Why, as an all knowing designer, would you be afraid of making humans with all their failings (each have their own)? Afraid of rebellion? ungratefulness? blasphemy?
And what about lifespan? Their body may as well live forever or else they'll complain about that too.
And then they'll complain about...

Re: A paranoid Designer!
You seem to be saying that God proves that he is not afraid of making substandard humans by making substandard humans.
No, I'm asking you why you, if you were an Intelligent Designer, would be afraid of making every human imperfect?

Cavediver or Plato's cavedweller?
cavediver writes:
Me? I would not be afraid of anything...
Right, including the 'Rhaivin'gs of ungrateful, blasphemous whingers.
I'ts easy to bag things that you don't understand, it seems to be a human trait.
So cavediver, give us an example of one of your creatures. I'll give you a leg up,
I'll assume that that you are the brightest person in the world, most knowledgeable in biology, computer science, physics, chemistry and mathematics. And We'll also provide the dust that you need to create your beings.
So far the best you can do is an idiot robot; so can you improve on this?

Granny, the way I see it is that you have been blessed with the miracle of life. Your kidneys might be dodgy but you've still got a good brain. Why not use it in a positive way and move forward rather than begrudgingly ponder on what might have been?
Tuesday before last, just as I arrived home, I had a visit from a good friend. As we were sitting talking, I noticed that he, for the first time, was seriously contemplating his imminent death. He was into the 14th month of his 12 month terminal prognosis, a failed liver. He already looked dead, not being a doctor, but I wouldn't have given him 30 more days.
His phone rang, it was the hospital calling him to let him know they had a liver for him. I drove him straight to hospital. He gets out tomorrow 10 days later, with a new lease on life.
All thanks to the bumbling fools made according to the 'idiot plans'.(cavediver EVC 2008).

Natures Folly
cavediver writes:
.I, for one, am sick of this behaviour - I look at the hours wasted by myself and others in trying to explain the science behind this Universe, as we understand it, and see that effort simply spat back at us.
Thanks for your effort in explaining the universe as you see it.
  • 74% Dark Energy we can't feel
  • 22% Dark Matter we can't see
  • 4% Matter we don't understand.
Great work cavediver, keep it up.
cavediver writes:
Thanks, that's very generous of you. But I notice you're holding back on that omnipotence and omniscience.
Am I?
There's a bag full of O's feel free to use any you think you'll need whilst designing your beings.
cavediver writes:
afraid that with those I might just knock up a creation that would have every living creature falling at my feet?
I'm starting to think it wasn't such a good idea to give you so much power cavediver, now all we have is a stumbling idiot robot with stainless steel fingernails.
LinearAq writes:
..However, I fail to see how this observation of a failed liver and the ability of scientists to find a solution for the problem, constitutes a positive affirmation of the engineering prowess that you attribute to your Designer.
This thread isn't about evidence or affirmation of anything. It's a free-for-all blasphemy thread.
Anyway evidence needs interpretation and you need the wherewithal to interpret evidence.
For example: a filed down pigs tooth can be interpreted by the elite scientific community as evidence enough of common descent. That's because they have the special skills and knowledge necessary to make such a determination. For the rest of us uneducated, uninitiated, it will always be just a pigs tooth.
Rahvin writes:
...For instance, the very first thing I'd do is make separate tubes for eating and breathing so you could never choke while eating ever again.
Or you could try chewing your food before swallowing, that's what your teeth are for. Adding another tube introduces redundancy.
Rahvin writes:
..You don't think this is a bad thing, even though your friend is likely to die.
We're all going to die. What happens then is what is important.
Rahvin writes:
. You don't think the design is flawed. And when your friend receives a replacement, not from your designer but by human science, you actually thank your designer for repairing the faulty part he designed, even though the designer wasn't the one to repair it - human beings replaced it with a new one!
We actually thanked the doctors, nurses, the donor family and other hospital staff.
I never said that the human body was perfect, you're making that up. It fulfills it's purpose. If it didn't have a purpose, it would be nothing but a folly.
Edited by LucyTheApe, : Granny pointed out the fact that I can't add up!
