Yes. But it's a long story, and I'm someone who always seems to take the long route. I was firstly trying to get windows 98 installed in a confused state, . So I formatted the system, but then the 98 cd rom botched up, so I then re-installed XP.....I had to make a partition thingymajig or something, over the mess I'd made.

Ah, the good ole 98. I remember those dark days, when it would shut down whenever it wanted. Am I glad we got passed 98 and ME.Which XP do you have? Home or Pro?

I believe that most of the spyware etc. comes via cookies. Be selective on what cookies you accept and the spyware etc. should go way down or even stop.Mooseps. Running Windows 98 Second Edition on newer computer, Windows 3.1 on the old 486. I heard that XP takes a lot of RAM, and that on older computers don't have enough RAM, to handle XP adequately, just that it might be worth checking out how much available RAM you have available, and if you can add additional RAM to your computer. I have an older computer so never upgraded to XP. I'm just saying this cause you said you had windows 98 and upgraded to XP, might check how much available RAM you have, "if" your using an older computer, it might just be running out of RAM.I'm glad you liked the free ad-ware program, I use spy bots search and destroy because it has an immunization feature that blocks most of those bots, that my google pop up blocker misses.Trixie, Thanks for AVG the free anti-virus software, found it at grisoft.
