Email was knocked out for about a half day early this week but has been working since. Did the problems you describe happen today?
By the way, go ahead and use that account for now, I'll merge it with your old account when I get a chance. Edited by Admin, : Add note.

I'm at a loss - I just tested the "Request new password" process and the email arrived within 15 seconds.
I'll merge your new account with your old now. Everyone else - please let me know if you encounter any email problems. We did experience a significant email DOS attack early this week, and the next day a server DOS attack. I thought I had dealt successfully with the attacks, but maybe not, so please let me know if you experience any problems by posting to this thread. Thanks.

At work I am using IE 8.06
Couple days ago I discovered I cannot reply or init messages. Error: Dispatch table lookup failure, control does not exist: Preview Error: Dispatch table lookup failure, control does not exist: Submit Works fine from home on Chrome 10.0 Sent an e-mail from work, but not sure if you received due to recent e-mail issues or maybe unrecognized address since I have not registered that address on this forum.

I'm unable to duplicate the failure in IE 8.06. Do you still get the same failures after clicking on "Reload"?
IE is still the most popular browser out there, and solving problems like this is very important, so if "reload" doesn't fix the problem then if you have time and could provide additional information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just getting home. Unable to post on my work platform.
Both messages as before: Error: Dispatch table lookup failure, control not found: Preview (or Submit) I did try reload, several times. Tried logging out of EVC then back in. Tried same with a full system re-boot in between. Full re-boot both with and without EVC automatic login. Tried to reply to specific message, general message to a thread and proposed new topic. Redundant, I know, since they all use the same routines, but, what the hey. IE 8.0.6001.18702 IC, Update 0. One thing I cannot try is to delete cookies. IT Security uses cookies internally. I could try deleting just the major EVC cookies if you think that might be helpful. Give me the names of the ones you plant and I can try it at work tomorrow? One of the few days when most people don't mind my being an atheist and I don't mind working. What other types of info would be helpful for you? Will probably not be able to reply until well after 7 pm Mountain Sunday. abe: I note in the practice thread you posted with IE8 with no problem. Doesn't appear, at first glance anyway, to be an IE8 issue. Any other such complaints from IE8 users? Could there be something in the data stream from my system that is causing an issue? I'm thinking some input data that is causing an out of bound memory or buffer overflow situation. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.

I'll try to keep this short. Sitting behind the HTML that describes webpage content is Javascript that controls the dynamic part of that content. Javascript can even define new content.
The HTML <button> tag does not work properly in Internet Explorer, but it is relatively easy to workaround with Javascript by trapping <button> clicks to execute Javascript code that carries out the correct action that IE will not. But IE8 is the odd man out among the IE browser versions. IE7 and before needed this little Javascript intervention in order for <button>'s to work, and IE9 and after need it, but IE8 does not need it. But this Javascript code runs for all version of IE, including IE8 which doesn't need it, but the code doesn't interfere with IE8. But your IE8 version, though nearly identical to mine, isn't completely identical, so maybe there are different flavors of IE8 that behave differently with respect to <button>'s. I have a test you can carry out to check this possibility:
Let me know if it worked or not and you saw the preview of your (empty) reply. If it worked then I know how to fix it. If it didn't work then I'll figure out something else to try next. Thanks for your help! Remember to go back and reenable active scripting.

It shall be done.
At work from noon to about 7. If it worked I'll leave a message from work. If not then I'll leave my message when I get home. Depending on business I may not be able to try this till late afternoon. Glad to help.

OK, now this is interesting.
I am on a second platform with IE8.0.6001.18702 in the same office and this one appears to work just fine, with scripting enabled. Sounds like a specific plaform issue to me. On my computer I tried as you suggested with active scripting disabled with no effect. Still get the table lookup error. Unless there is some significant difference between .18702 and .18702IC, which would be weird but we are, afterall, talking about Microsoft, then I'm thinking this thing is a platform ghost. That's good to hear, thanks for letting me know. If you happen to learn more about what's up with IE on the other machine just drop me another note.
Have a great rest of Easter!

Just noticed that on my faulty platform the menu buttons are different.
This one has Profile, Essential Links, FAQ etc on one line in blue background for the words only. On my errant box this shows as Profile (blue background for word only) centered on one line, then Essential Links centered in a blue background that stretches across the entire screen on the second line, then the FAQ, etc. on a third line blue background for the words only. Is this loaded by cookie?

The failing IE is running in compatibility mode.
Turn off compatibility mode, and it will work. I think that is remembered as a per-site setting. Who'd have thunk it - compatibility mode is incompatible. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Thanks for finding this. I ran a couple simple tests and I don't believe I can fix this. In compatibility mode IE8 will not let you replace the mouse click handler for <button>'s with your own handler.
Compatibility mode describes itself as being for old websites that don't display properly, saying that turning on compatibility mode may fix this. But the website displays fine without compatibility mode, so I'm going to close this issue. Thanks again for the help, you and AZPaul3.

IE7 running on XP Pro. I try to reply and I still get this:
Error: Dispatch table lookup failure, control does not exist: Submit Reply I reported it to you via email on Thursday and it's still broken. The only way I'm able to post this is because I found an old copy of FireFox on my system buried under a thick layer of dust. BTW, I have in the meantime closed IE and rebooted the entire system.
