Re: Chat log-in problems
Okay, that is just the styles file and I don't think that is the problem. All it does is set the look of chat, size of fonts and stuff.
Right now I don't have an answer for you but several of us are working on it.

Re: Chat log-in problems
I just used firefox to try logging into chat and still got same error but I did find this log of my attempts through the javascript console:
Expected declaration but found '#FFE3B4'. skipped to next decleration.
http:///HTML/BoardStyle.css
Line: 974
I see a bunch of those on the javascript console. They are not causing any obvious problems.
For chat, the place to look would be the java console. On a windows box, look in the system tray. If you see a steaming cup of coffee, right click on that and select java console. The java icon in the system tray might not show up until you use java (as with trying to start chat).

Re: Chat log-in problems
I thought maybe it was hanging up in the script somewhere as it said "Expected declaration but found...."
In any case, I opened the java console but all it seemed to have was a list of key commands (I'm guessing as each letter had a command next to it.)
I did open the control panel and thought perhaps there might be a problem with my java settings? I have no problem with other java script sites, such as online java games.

Re: Chat log-in problems
java and javascript are two quite different things, with no relation between them other than the use of the 4 letter "java". Chat is a java applet. There might be some javascript on the web page that starts chat, but from your description the applet is starting, so I doubt that javascript problems are involved.
What's your java version? Maybe there is an incompatibility there. The java console probably tells you the version.

On the console it lists my java version as:
Java Plug-in 1.5.0_07
Using JRE version 1.5.0_07 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\Documents and Settings\Ericka
Java[tm] 2 platform

Re: Chat log-in problems
I see almost the same (1.5.0_06). I haven't yet updated to the 07 build. I'm not sure why you would be having problems. It works fine for me.
Is there any chance that your firewall is stopping this? I'm showing a port 8008 connection to 64.255.248.202. (port 8008 at that site, a random local port).

Syntax error
Look good.
Pages are loading faster, too. I have no idea whether that is related.

I'm logged in, but not
Okay, my username is kuresu.
I've signed in as a guest (kuresu2) for one specific problem.
Once finding out that you gave me permission to post in Herapton's "WHy is the process blind" thread on the showcase forum, I leapt with joy over there. Only to find out, the board did not recognize that I was logged in. Only problem is, on the list of who's online now, my username is there. And now, whenever I try to re-login, it won't.
I've deleted my cookies, and temp. internet files, history, and refreshed the page, and it still won't fix it. Can an admin log me off, so I can get back to debating?

okay, no one replied to this, but I finally got back in (so maybe someone did something about, just not telling it)(who knows, who cares, I back on, and that's great)

Re: I'm logged in, but not
Can you check if your PC is set to the same time as the board? To do this you have to go to the Member Preferences on your profile and select "Display times in the discussion board's time zone", then click "Submit Modifications". Now the "Page Loaded" time displayed near the top right of the page is the discussion boards current time when the page loaded. Is that the same time as your PC, adjusting for timezones? If not, how far off is it and in which direction. The discussion board is on eastern time US.
Also, do you have "Save Login" set to "Yes" in your preferences?

Re: I'm logged in, but not
I'm not sure why the tome my computer is on would affect my loggin, but as i live in the eastern-standard time, it would be foolish to set my computer to something different (it's my most important timepiece).
I don't think I've set my computer to save my login, and I've no clue how to check anyhow.
