Nope...signature is full here. On new DBoard it gets garbled.
BTW what does this mean?-----> “ “The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants.”-- Edited by Phat, : ![]() Edited by Phat, : explanation of behaviour

All signatures longer than 500 characters got truncated when I copied the database from the main board. I've removed the character limit for signatures, but I didn't recopy the database, which means your signature will stay truncated over at the test board, though you can cut-n-paste your signature from your profile here to your profile there if you want. The signatures will be correct when the main board is upgraded.
I can only guess about the funny characters that they are what happens when you try to copy the open/close kind of quotes ( and ), rather than the flat quotes ("). I think some types of open/close quotes don't copy/paste well.

I think some types of open/close quotes don't copy/paste well. My recollection is that these type problems started showing up, at least more severely, after the most recent server change. Both for pre-existing messages and for new messages. Moose

Admin writes: I never noticed that you said this. I plan on hanging out at the test board for awhile and pretending like you promoted me. I should cause enough havoc to bring a few bugs out of the woodwork at least! please help get dBoard 3.0 ready for prime time by testing dBoard 3.0 Beta. In fact, use it instead of the main board for a while. When the main board is finally updated to 3.0 I'll keep the test board in place while discussions in progress complete.![]()

Um... I'm seeing Phat's "Chaos Reigns" announcement on both the test board and the new board here.
Is something wrong? I am assuming that he posted this announcement just for the test board and from the test board. That may or may not be true. A nice, funny test (my favourite kind), but it seems a bit out-of-place on the "official" board.

OOPS!
![]() Attention: Percy: http://test.///cgi-bin/dm.cgi?action=msg&m=174601 Stile, I made such a mess that I even demoted myself over there! I am not cut out to be a Forum Director, since I do not understand computer code nor what any of the buttons actually do! Thank goodness it was testEvc and not NORAD! ![]() Edited by Phat, : No reason given.

For new posters with suggestions?
Perl often comes installed by default on Linux systems. If you already have Linux installed then just check if it's on your search path by giving the "which perl" command. If Perl isn't found it may be your search path that is at fault, so look in /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin. If your Linux system doesn't have Perl already installed then simply download the appropriate binary from the perl.org site. There are several options for installing linux - one works inside a windoze environment. I have noticed in my new firefox browser that the EvC pages all have a little picture of a big blue boat with black smoke stacks and red cabins up in the URL box, at the left edge.
Is this not a Happy Accident that I cannot tell whether it is supposed to be Noah's Ark or the HMS Beagle? ![]() I'm not sure where this little observation should go, so I stuck it here at the end. - xongsmith

Give me a list of what you need. I haven't made an icon for 10 + years but I can refigure it out. I'm away in Rio for half of August so you'll have to wait a bit. Prioritize the list please.

I don't know if this is a dBoard 3 issue but I have at least one thread which comes up as having replies but which doesn't actually have any new posts at all.

When you visit EvC Forum, do you use more than one browser window or tab? If not, tell me which thread or threads are involved.
But if so, is this about the little blue arrow in the left hand column next to the folder icon? If not, please provide more details. But if so, refresh the webpage. Is the icon still there for threads you've visited since the last message was posted? If so, tell me which thread or threads are involved. I should mention a little detail about the behavior of the little blue arrow. Say there's a thread with 10 pages that you've never visited before. If you click on the little blue arrow it will take you to the first page. Now all messages up through page one are marked as having been read by you. If you go back to the thread list and click on the same little blue arrow again it will now take you to the second page. If you skip to page six, thereby marking all messages as read up through page six, and then click on the little blue arrow again, it will take you to page seven. Thanks for your help finding problems!

I do use multible tabs sometime but its not the wee blue arrow that is confusing me. In my 'Topics Index' page where the 'Replies' column is it says I have a reply in the Abel and Trevors thread, but mine seems to be the last post on that thread.
