Coffee House?
Anyway, I'm sure that Bin Laden shares Georgianne's belief that 9/11 was a miracle.

Of course, one is left desperately asking - 'What were the First Responders doing whilst she was laying on hands?' Had they attempted CPR?
I'm not trying to be a killjoy, its a heart warming christmas tale to hear that miracles are still happening. Indeed, I'm sure many people have been touched by such miracles during the festive season and it gives them strength and bolsters their faith. 'Tis the season after all.
Have a Merry Christmas, rand?

What is 2 plus 2?
Another case of 2 + 2 = 5.
Interesting that there are no eyewitness statements to support her claim.

Selective miracles
So He`s busy saving individual cases, but continues to let millions of kids die in agony from malaria, dysentery, etc.?

Thread moved here from the Coffee House forum.
AbE: This is most definitely not a "Coffee House" topic. "In the News" is fine, or it needs to go through PNT. I hope that makes sense now; if not follow one of the links below and ask for clarification.
Thanks.

Mrs Gwidt sounds like the sort of nice person who'll pray for the neighbors' Shih-tsu to be relieved of its constipation and then tell her customers about the resulting miracle for weeks afterward. Read The Demon-Haunted World, Randman.

    in the news?
I didn't see how this was related to the debate. It's a news story, and not a scientific story and so seemed best suited to Coffee House. It's not meant to be debated in a formal sense as the news story, nor the woman, nor I am doing anything more than retelling an event. It's not like we are going to try to experiment on people, flat-lining them and then see how many we can bring back via prayer.

    Re: prove it
Actually it isnt up to me to prove it is not a miracle. It is up to you and those that profess it is to do the proving. YOu cannot prove soething is not. The onus is on those that claims something is sopmething to do the proving. YOu see here is the problem with a lot of this faith stuff. Fundies always insist on nonbelievers proving that soemthing isnt when those professing have to prove it is.

    Re: prove it
Not a miracle is a rebuttal to the OP's existential claim.
The onus in a discussion is on the existential claimant to provide the proof.

    Re: prove it
You said it was not a miracles. Prove it.
My point here is you made a claim you cannot prove. You should say it is not scientifically proven it was a miracle, not that you know it was not a miracle because frankly, you do not know, and have no evidence at all except this news story.
I accept the story as true and you do not. That's reality.
Your childish insistence it is not a miracled based on no evidence at all is indicative of evos in general. You assert somethign you cannot substantiate and then when called on it, run.
I readily admitted when I placed this in Coffee House that I wasn't trying to "prove" it was a miracle. I believe the story since I have seen miracles, and you do not.
