okay, so I don't have any quite yet. just thought I'd go ahead and start the topic. basically, I'll just put what I record of me playing the electric bass or bouzouki on here.
I've got two that I'll try to record this weekend. One's a song my ex-bass teacher taught me (mostly slap, and a fair warning--i'm not too hot at slap). the second is a song i've been writing. it's basically my first real song (by that, I mean it's more than a song like the one for the vongo commercials, which is nothing more than a 1-4-5 major progression using the major pentatonic scale. anyone can write that.) it does have a method to the madness, though not much. A good chunk of it is just me fooling around on the D major scale.
And if you think it sucks, go ahead and say so.
i'll edit this post when I get them recorded.

Well, if we're plugging our creative endeavors, then I'm linking to my webcomic.

When it comes to music it doesn't matter in my opinion. You should be creative and enjoy doing it.
I love music and was an obsessed Floyd fan for many years. Never did really get the Zepplin thing. It was too careless I guess for my strong conscious even then. I wanted meaning... desperately.
I haven't played in years, and I wasn't very good when I did. We bought our oldest son a little guitar for his 4th birthday. A childs guitar for about 20 bucks if I remember right. It doesn't tune like a regular guitar. All of the chords are made with each bar. No finger contortions. I have made up a few simple little ditties myself on the thing. The kids love it when going to sleep. I think I will buy a real guitar again soon just for the enjoyment of playing.
I for one am looking forward to hearing it.

Almost There
I've got a recording of my song that I like for the most part. I haven't decided if I'm going to do it as a youtube video. At any rate, it'll be up here tonight.
As to the slap song, that'll be next week. I'm not happy with my clarity on it, so . . .more practice.
ABE:
and me happy that i'm converting the audio files to MP3. For some wierd reasion, my recording software makes the .wav file incredibly huge. It went from 83.5 Mb (.wav) to 7.56 Mb (.mp3). oh, and it's apparently a little over 8 minutes long. Don't ask me how I managed to pull that off.
ABE2:
i'll include the tablature for it once I get the repetitive stuff written out. tab's about halfway done--just need the stuff after the "solo" section.

This Version Is Hopefully Louder
okay, i did it as a video. you won't see anything though. i have a website where i'd put the music and have you all go to, but the amount of stuff is extremely limited, and I'd hate to have someone go through this thread and say "where the heck is all this stuff at the beginning?"
oh, another problem. I've never been able to get the sound to be loud (when recording. even routing the bass through my amp did little). I suggest listening to it with headphones, or with loud speakers. Stupid, I know. That's what you get when you get cheapish software and recording devices.
as to the song itself. It's either in the key of D major or B minor. doesn't really matter though, because both keys have the same notes. if you all want the tab, let me know and I'll put it up.
enjoy.
ABE:
i screwed up somewhere. has anyone uploaded videos to youtube before? can I get your help?
ABE2:
hopefully this one works.

Re: The First Song (It's Working!!!)
I liked the first part - reminded me of a spaghetti Western (Ennio Morricone).

Re: This Version Is Hopefully Louder
Hi kuresu,
The sound was not LOUD but loud enough for clarity.
It's pretty, some nice progressions in there. I am going for B minor.
But hey! don't you have something heavy?

OK... one last try
I did an evening course recenlty in protools software, And for my project I recorded this little piece.
It consists of about 5 guitar tracks, one reversed and layed over the top, with some movie samples in lieu of lyrics (can you name the movies?)
any hoo, the point of it was to learn the production software moreso than recording, but I was reasonably pleased with the outcome. It's a bit buzzy due to my cheapy pickup in my cheapy acoustic.
I'm not musically literate so I can't tell you what chord its in or what progressions there are or anything like that.
hope this works

At first I thought, man this AWESOME! But as the song went on I realised that I couldn't hear any of the 5 guitar tracks you mentioned, or movie samples, though it does include non-English football commentary samples in it though. Clicking on your link seems to redirect to a download of a Latin / Arabic fusion pop song with dance production! Strange... but still awesome .

Play Misty For Me?
I like the guitar. Keep the buzziness in.
I especially like the ending. The middle is a bit long for my taste.

Nope, not play misty for me.
THere's three samples from three different movies.
yeah, I think it could lose a bar or two in the middle, or else have something else there to take fill the 'gap'
thanks
