Defensive attack is quite correct. It's a matter of motivation. This is what makes Israel the victim, not the action itself, not the number of deaths but the motivation, the purpose, which is purely defensive-- to remove Hezbollah's threat to Israel. As opposed to Hezbollah's purely vindictive hate-driven revenge-driven murderous motivation.

jar asked:
If the US bombed Quebec do you think it might be considered illegal? to which Faith replied:
quote: So you believe that just because some terrorists hide in Quebec it would be okeydokey for the US to just bomb the soveriegn Nation of Canada? I understand now. Thank you for explaining your position, I am sure Ottawa will be impressed by your logic. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Not true at all. Legality/illegality is about the action, not the motivation. Motivation can sometimes mitigate bad actions, but it can never excuse bad actions. The number of deaths is certainly more important than the motivation. Is it permissible to kill hundreds to save dozens? Show us the math. Help scientific research in your spare time. No cost. The deaths are unintentional, and most of them are engineered by Hezbollah. THAT ought to be impermissible.

What a bunch of lies to whitewash murder. Hezbollah is a real threat to Israel and determined to become a bigger threat. They aren't "hiding," they have put themselves in position to attack Israel and they committed the act of aggression of kidnapping Israeli soldiers. Israel is within its rights to demolish their ability to kill more Israelis.

The deaths are unintentional, mostly staged by Hezbollah to get the predictable mindless sympathy of the left, and motivation makes all the difference.

Faith writes: The deaths are unintentional.... Irrelevant. If I drive drunk and unintentionally kill people, it's still illegal.
... mostly staged by Hezbollah to get the predictable mindless sympathy of the left.... Irrelevant. If Hezbollah sends innocent pedestrians out in the street when I'm driving drunk, it's still my responsibility. And sympathy is never "mindless". Shame on you.
... and motivation makes all the difference. Still false, no matter how many times you repeat it. My motivation might be to go and help the needy, but if I drive drunk to get there, it's still wrong. Israel is not driving drunk. They are defending their people from terrorists. And yes sympathy with murderers and sympathy that blames the wrong cause of suffering is mindless

quote: Actually, the analogy I think of is a group of police officers firing into a crowd of people to try to take out an unseen gunman. And yes sympathy with murderers and sympathy that blames the wrong cause of suffering is mindless I don't know about you, Faith, but I have sympathy for children. I have sympathy for ambulance drivers on a mission of humanitarian aid. As far as I'm concerned, both Israel and Hizballah are to blame, and it just shows how fundamentalist religion that can brook no compromise nor tolerate any deviation is a destructive force that deserves extinction.

I have no sympathy for murderers who set up their own civilian population to be murdered for the sake of PR. You all keep changing the subject but that is the subject.

Jesus forgives REPENTANT sinners, not unrepentant sinners. Unbelievable how you all misapply scripture. Very sad.
