Well, to be fair, if everyone was capable of using logical reasoning based on facts then we wouldn't have conservatives. And how much fun would that be?

And how much fun would that be? Oh, I'd gladly give up arguing with know-nothing conservatives if it meant I could be sure that minorities would have equal rights, people weren't going to blow up a nuke in times square, my kids could get a real science education, and stupid religious nonsense would stay in the church where it belongs instead of in the courthouse. Sounds like way more fun to me.

Now, now...lets not pick on ALL conservatives!
I think that Bush is just a figurehead for a more "intelligent" although greedy agenda behind him...more insidious, of course! Bush is the focal point of criticism to deflect our attention from the deeper problems and the real hand that guides them. Its a philosophical battle of ideologies. Wait until the next couple of hurricanes and watch the reaction as the money runs out! (spent in Iraq)

Or perhaps "to respond effectively to crisis situations." You see, Bush was warned ahead of time that the levees would be breached, that putting victims in the Superdome would endanger lives, and that inaction would result in thousands of deaths. I agree 100%. However, FEMA is not a first responder agency. Local officials are.
No webpage found at provided URL: http://news.yahoo.com/fc/US/Hurricane_Katrina There, Governor Blanco mistakenly says there's nothing wrong with the levees. Now let's take a look at your disingenuousness on this. Had this headline read, "Video shows Bush saying N.O. Levees were intact" you would be jumping up and down and bursting at the seems in your eagerness to point out Bush's obvious neglect, gross incompetance, and lack of leadership in his administration. Yet... All I hear are crickets... Double standard...yet again. This message has been edited by Tal, 03-03-2006 10:02 AM People don't kill people Cartoons kill people

FEMA is not a first responder agency. Local officials are. And if you'll notice, the first video has Louisiana and Mississippi officials making clear to Bush that state resources are overwhelmed, and that federal assistance is required. Bush tells them, (emphasis mine,) "I want to assure the folks at the state level that we are fully prepared to not only help you during the storm, but we will move in whatever resources and assets we have at our disposal after the storm." And then... Bush proceeds to go enjoy a delicious slice of cake. It's not until several days after the storm that he actually gets off his ass and does something. How many people had died in the flood by then? Or been raped and/or killed in the Superdome?
There, Governor Blanco mistakenly says there's nothing wrong with the levees. No... in the course of updating Bush on the damage the storm had done a couple hours after it started, Governor Blanco mistakenly says that the levees had not yet been breached. Her exact words were "I think we have not breached the levee at this time." But Bush knew they would be breached before the storm was done. His advisors had told him so before the storm started. Ut... an edit came down the pipe while I was responding. Let's take a look at it.
Whether you choose to believe me or not, I'll go ahead and assure you... had Bush said, within the first couple hours of the storm, that he didn't think the levees had yet been breached, I'd be cool with it. Of course... that's not what happened. You're making stuff up, and predicting how I would have responded, and addressing that, rather than actually addressing what has happened. Oh, and calling me disingenuous.
All I hear are crickets... Yes, it was damned disingenuous of me to take the time to arrive at work and enjoy a cup of coffee before reading and responding to the article you posted. Like I said, disinegenuous. For those of us who believe errors occured at all levels, how does pointing out blanco made a mistake during the crisis, change the fact that Bush made errors in preparation, during, and after the crisis? You discuss a double standard and disingenuity, but where is your condemnation of Bush here? Look like double standard bizarro tal. AbE: Not to mention he appears to have lied to the american public. You must come here because you like the abuse, because it sure isn't to debate. In all seriousness, if you are interested in maintaining our stereotypes that the political right is largely uninformed and uninterested in becoming informed, and incredibly biased to the point of being unable to comprehend reality, you just keep right on posting your comments, getting pummeled with facts and reasoned argument, and then running away.

I've been harboring a suspicion that he is a paid member of psy-ops, or intel, working out disinformation strategies. Perhaps even to plant or test arguments by the Bush administration. If I remember right that is something the Bush administration had been working on for Europe. Disinfo, or propaganda teams. If he's not getting paid to do this then he's likely a masochist. holmes "What you need is sustained outrage...there's far too much unthinking respect given to authority." (M.Ivins)

Maybe he's having more success at other forums. holmes "What you need is sustained outrage...there's far too much unthinking respect given to authority." (M.Ivins)
