i would have gone for a "john" holmes joke or two. I'm not sure, that would sort of cut me down in size... ahem. Actually I'd have been fine with more satirization on the same point, twisting my own position against me. For example: Holmes (noticing others looking at his dress): Hey, I want to make it clear that I'm just dressed like this to be funny, I am in no way a cross dresser... not that there's anything wrong with it... but I don't get off on this kind of thing. Everyone (in unison): Riiiiiiiiiiiight. Holmes (flustered): I mean it, I'm not into wearing dresses like this, or panties, or bras, or these adorable fishnet stockings with garter, or high heel shoes which show off my legs nicely don't they... I mean, I'm not into this for sex, just for laughs. Random snickers are heard. Anonymous Voice: Don't worry, we're laughing.

Yeah, well, I have got to say that so far, my portrayal has seemed to be the most, um, unflattering. But maybe I'm just being shallow. Everybody else has been portrayed as crotchety or just funny, but also usually somewhat smart. My character just seems like an idiot. For instance, it would have been "insering a kernel of truth" (and also funny) to have had Charles Knight and the rest of the boys at the table, after asking me who said I had to look like a Playmate, start going gaga over some Playmate-esque woman across the room and not paying the least bit of attention to what I was saying.

But I think your description is mistaken. The character comes off as someone who is excessively worried about her looks--that was the point. It had nothing to do with the character's mentality. Thank you Robin, that's very kind of you. The feeling is mutual. Yeah, I'm not sure what that's all about. I think it has to do with a common temperament in regards to "wit." We sort of find the same things funny, or something of that sort. And of course there are people who have no "wit" (ironic temperament) at all. And we have to put up with their sorry asses.

(i would have ended up on "what not to wear" pretty fast, though...)

I'm sure he doesn't mean yours, schraf. Her ass is fabulous. I worship that and various other items. But what does it prove? Where is the evidence? Do you have any peer-reviewed studies of her ass?

come to think of it, i've never actually worn a dress. although i was gonna have my friends make me one, once. i decided that pants were "too much effort" and "too hot in the summertime." so i was gonna get them to make me a man-skirt. Mate of mine tells me he and his prospecting friends up on the Queensland gemfields wear sarongs (no knickers) all the time. They say it cuts down on heat rash and noxious odours. Hmmm.
