Re: EvC Awards
Well I am pleased to be named by several posters as deserving an ad hoc award or two
I'm pretty useless at deciding between people at these things so I rarely participate. But I'm going to give it a go anyway:
Best overall poster
EvC of course has a wealth of options here. I'm settling on crashfrog, which I'm sure will raise some eyebrows. The simple reason is, that right or wrong, crashfrog has probably done more to shake my preconceptions and faulty thinking than any other member. His consistency in this regard is to be commended.
Best debater
He's not around these days but I always enjoyed reading arachnophilia's debates. Nowadays I often find myself following PaulK's posts as I find his exchanges interesting and informative even on the occasion that I disagree with him.
Most intelligent
I think Dr Adequate has demonstrated an uncanny ability to perceive flaws in arguments while also discovering creative ways of pointing out those flaws. So he'll probably win this award.
Most potential
Kairyu.
Most sarcastic
That's a great category.
Best thread starter
Whenever RAZD proposes a new thread, the whole membership should pay attention.
Most laid back
I have admit, I'm struggling with this one. frako keeps springing to mind though.
Funniest
Dr Adequate has probably elicited the most laughs from me.

Re: EvC Awards
that's tough.
There is probably only 5 or 6 people on here I care to talk too (Catholic Scientist, Straggler, Dr Adequate, Onifre, Taq, Modulous) anyway.
if your location is Wisconsin or Minnesota, I try to pretend you don't even exist.
Frako is okay.

Myself, Oni and Dr A have decided to setup a commune in Wisconsin. CS and Taq will be overseeing the Minnesota operation.
The aim is to spread the EvC message of peace and love between believer and non-believer alike.
We want you with us on this journey brother Artie.

Yep. Me too. PaulK is def worth a mention in any EvC awards context. Not sure what specific category. But worth a mention as someone worth following who doesn't get regularly mentioned. I nominate him in the category of "most whatever" - and I mean that in the best possible way.

Again - Yep. I don't always agree with Crash (although on most topics I probably broadly do - but it's the details that matter) . I sometimes find myself exasperated by his strident style. But I usually learn something and I am usually forced to ask myself awkward questions about my own position as a result of his contributions. And his strident style is frankly something that I am in no position to get upset about..... I often seek to emulate it.
Good choices.

Can you link?
What are you talking about?
Or is it too painful and embarressing to bring up (in which case you shouldn't have mentioned it...)

My two cents are worth more than yours
I think it's time I chime in, since I've received so many PM's asking me to finally bring some honesty and truth to this thread. I, however, have been busy writing dick jokes for people who talk on camera, so I couldn't get it. Sorry guys/gals.
But I've taken a break, that I usually spend doing sit-ups and/or push-ups, to bring Realness (That's trademarked so I don't want anyone else using it) to the thread.
First off, I don't know why posters like crash, Mod, Dr. A, Rhavin, Wounded King, Granny, Straggler, RAZD, Percy, and the like have received any award? I usually can't understand much of what they're saying, it's usually pointless posting from them, and never ONCE has a good debate EVER been made by these guys/gals.
So lets bring: The Realness
Best overall poster: Buzsaw
Yeah, that's right, Buzsaw! Now I know what some of you are thinking, "But Buz is the worst overall poster." Well, frankly, I don't know how anyone came to that conclusion. He posts a lot, and on many threads, constantly getting into it with ANYONE (No Fear Buz, I call him), and will even debate a moderator on rules they enforce. Plus, have any of YOU come up with your own cosmological theory? No. I didn't think so. The Buzsaw Hyperbole, as he has named it, is pretty much unfalsifiable, making it un-false! Buz wins, every time.
Best Debater: Buzsaw
See above.
Most Intelligent: ICANT
No one's asking the question ICANT is asking. Over and over. Repeatedly, no matter what anyone says to him or what facts may be shown. And that kind of tenacity is what drove Einstein, Newton, and all those guys to discover the universe in it's truest form. So while many of us, or none of us, may understand what ICANT wants to know, he's on a quest beyond our simple understanding which makes him, the most intelligent.
Most Potential: Percy, Crashfrog, Mod, Starggler, Wounded King, Cavediver, Son Goku
One day they'll be there. Not yet though. Certainly not yet.
Most Sarcastic: Iano
That guy cracks me up with his sarcastic approach to faith. The most hilarious jabs at God and Jesus have been done by this gal. I challenge anyone here to re-read his posts and not be driven to laugh hysterically!
Best Thread Starter: Maibus
Radical, free thinking drives this one. He puts forth challenging topics, almost incoherent nonsense (to the untrained eye) but for those willing to go down that Maibus-rabbit hole, the reward is awesome. You'll get a true sense of what he means - it's like a mushroom trip.
Most Laid Back: Dawn Bertot
If ever there was a poster that really represented that laid back "we're all here to learn" attitude, it's this gal. Bertot. The name rhymes with tater-tots, and that's the most laid back of the potato snacks too, lol. Any time Bertot is in a thread, you're sure to learn something about the subject at hand - and also the many subjects she'll side-bar too. Often faulted for being off-topic, but it's not a fair assessment. Bertot is NOT off-topic, but more so onto another topic in the spirit of learning more. She should be rewarded, not punished. In any case, Bertot never gets angry, never gets mad, never lashes out with juvenial name calling, which makes this little lady the Most Laid Back.
Funniest: Rrhain
Always a crack up this gal. Always joking around, making silly jokes about ones sexuality and opinions. Just an all around fun person to have in any thread. The laughs keep-a-coming when this jokester is involved in debate! And the picture in her avatar dressed like a man dressed like Peter Pan, is just hilarious! Kudos as always, Rrhain.

I have to admit, I'm only doing it for the cheese. The sweet delectable cheese.

How dare you forget the beer and brats. And beerbrats. Never been to The Brat Stop? Awesome bar with kick ass hot dogs and bar food. Suppose it's a bit south for you though.

You are correct sir.
My Wisconsisity should be revoked.
Some of the best brats in world are made here in Cumberland. The sausage maker is a good friend.

Dr A - 10,000 Unnoticed
Dr Adequate's 10,000th post seems to have passed by all but un-noticed.
Personally I have been drinking to his accomplishment most of the evening (in fact even before noticing it)
(**Straggler let's off a firework and hands Dr A his 10,000 post merit badge**)
And it's nearly that time of year for this year's oscars.....
