Hi everybody!
I must admit that I have been a nameless "Lurker" here for several months now. I have become a true fan of EvC forum, and finally decided I owe it to you all just to at least drop by and say hi. First of all I want to thank you all for your wit, honesty and willingness to debate some tough issues. And especially to the Admin team and directors for keeping the threads (almost) always on topic. You guys have a great site!
To tell you a little about me, I was born and raised in a fundamental Christian family; in fact my father was, and still is a minister. The majority of my education was received from christian institutions (through college), and as a consequence I grew up believing evolution to be contrary to all that is pure, good, and logical, and that the ICR was the cutting edge of modern research.
Unfortunately, it was not until after I graduated that I began to find myself genuinely interested in science. Ironically as it turned out, I wanted to investigate the timeline of Noah's flood and compare it against the known timelines that we have of ancient civilizations. I wanted to be able to point to a definite time in history and say "Look--here is when the flood happened, and this is the break in the historical chronologies."
The answer to that was big surprise number one for me, and the beginning of more than a few questions. I decided to read biology in a more objective way, and was surprised to discover that this horrible, Darwinian nonsense was actually a very reasonable interpretation of the evidence at hand.
The last ten years have been an interesting journey of learning for me, and EvC is my new "Favorite thing to read" online. I look forward to continuing to read, and perhaps participate in this awesome forum.
Cheers!

Welcome to EvC. Just remember that Evolution and Christianity are not mutually exclusive.

Almost similar to my story. Except that what got me to studying evolution was to find all the flaws and contradictions in the theory of evolution.
Well, another difference was that this happened during the last two years of high school.
And my family was not Christian (except in a rather vague manner).
Okay, so maybe our stories aren't all that similar after all.
Welcome to EvC.

Welcome. Glad to have you join.
Sometime you will have to explain that "Aussie" for somebody apparently in Florida. Admittedly, I'm a dinkum aussie myself and living in Illinois.

    Welcome Aussie!
Hi Aussie. I'm a creationist Jesus knowing God loving Biblical fundie who's been one of those for 60+ years since age 10. Though I've been here for over 3 years fulfilled prophecies and a whole lot more good stuff keeps me on the (abe:Biblical fundamentalist road). I'm also one of the moderators for EvC. A HEARTY WELCOME TO EVC! We hope you'll find being a member a pleasant experience.

Exactly a reason why I have such a negative attitude toward religion. It's sad that after six thousand years of civilization and human know-how society still doesn't consider religious indoctrination a form of child abuse.
For me, I finally saw through all the BS that was hammered into my head by my fundamentalist parents around my junior-senior years in college. When I realized that the world wasn't operating on magic... anyway you know the rest.
Welcome to EvC. In my signature are a couple of links. The first one will lead to a world map where you can insert a pin to tell us where you are. Make sure to put your name in the name box. If you want further explanations on how to go about doing stuff at the site, just click on the second link. It will lead you to the thread where explanations by moi were given.
Again, welcome to EvC and have a nice day

    Hello Aussie,
I just came out of lurking because I have a question, you wouldn't happen to be the same Aussie I used to see debating NRA4Freedom among others on another board would you?

Hi nwr...fair dinkum mate? Another aussie? The truth be told there's not much of Oz left of me except the blood and a recently expired passport. But I was born in Brisbane and came to the US at age ten. I now sport a "Yank" accent that fools the best of them.
    Nice to meet ya'!

Hello Buzsaw! A pleasure to talk to you, but no introductions are necessary! I know excactly who you are! Although I no longer share your beliefs, I have read many of your postings. It is people like you and Faith that help in keeping the debates interesting. I rejected the YEC position about ten years ago, but I understand the position from which you debate and some of the emotions you feel as you defend your faith. You have my respect.
    Cheers!

I'm originally from Perth. I came to USA for graduate studies, and stayed. Americans think I have an Oz accent, and Aussies think I have a yank accent.

    Welcome to EvC!!!
I'm glad you finally decided to come in and join us in debate and conversation.
I would agree that this is a very good webforum with witty dialogue and excellent moderation, save the occasional derailment of a thread.
If there is anything you need or want of us, feel free to ask.
    Welcome aboard!
