Cat aquisition
This is uncanny. It is virtually identical to the story of how I, also a 'dog person', got my cat, pregnant and all. Just change the setting to rural Kansas. And I had a dog initially, so she survived the first winter outdoors as a truly feral cat. Once my dog passed away, she starting coming around a lot closer, and finally got the courage to accept an invitation inside. She has been with us for 3 years, and we still have one of her kittens as well. Cats are truly artful at ingratiating themselves with humans.
