Okay, I lied. Some of you may already have figured out that that's actually a picture of Clark Gable. I can't provide a photograph, but here's a self sketch. I took advantage of artistic license to make myself appear better looking than I really am. Some very old timers might recall that I had this sketch on my Yahoo profile page a few years ago.

I'm pretty sure that's James Dean...

Re: Good new, new pics coming
We can then reopen the thread devoted to my avatar and you can all help me pick one.
I think we should have a "Choose NosyNed's next avatar" vote. And I see no reason why we should limit the choices to the photos you post. The nominations should be allowed to come from anywhere!

I never did get my horse. I did have a pet pig though.
My mother grew up on a ranch in Alberta, and they always had horses. Her father was one of the first in the area to get a tractor sometime in the early 1930's, but they rode to school in a horse-pulled cart, so horses were no big deal to her.
One year she had a pet pig, but only for a year. It was the only animal allowed in the house, a privilege not even permitted the barn cats. Of course, that didn't help the pig avoid its ultimate responsibility - this was a working ranch, after all, and still is.

Sounds like you still consider yourself a farmgirl!
We get our chicken meat from a local organic farmer. I sent my husband to pick up the birds. Unfortunately they weren't done processing all of them and my husband saw just how fresh our chickens were!
I had my own similar shocks while visiting the ranch. The summer I remember most clearly was when I was nine. Bailing hay was a lot of fun. I suppose me and my cousins were mostly in the way on the flatbed pulled behind the bailer - the men did most of the stacking. But one of the shocks came one day while walking by the barbed-wire fence behind the house. I had seen a pile of orangey something behind the fence, and when I got close enough I realized it was a pile of chicken feet. And then I remembered dinner the night before...
