It was 7 years ago today
Happy Birthday, Percy.
It was 7 years ago that I last used this image in this very thread. I started today out reading your PNT topic with our young Peter Lamont. Perhaps we could promote him to Free For All and let the wise codger jar ask him endless Socratic questions...or not.
Anyway, hope your day goes well, Percy. Thanks from all of us for the present that you have given us...this forum...in all its internet argument glory...and speaking for all of us here at EvC we wish you a day of reflection on how old you aren't....yet.

Re: It was 7 years ago today
Thank you! I had completely forgotten and was wondering whose birthday it was when I looked in on this thread. We celebrated on Saturday, it was a family get together for my mother's 90th birthday. She, me and my grandfather (her father) all have/had the same birthday.

Sounds like you have mighty pretty Augusts in your part of the world Percy :-) Happy birthday !

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

That's a pretty cool coincidence. Congratulations to all three of you!

Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846)
I would say here something that was heard from an ecclesiastic of the most eminent degree; ‘That the intention of the Holy Ghost is to teach us how one goes to heaven, not how the heaven goes.’ Galileo Galilei 1615.

Sure makes it a big day eh?
Congratulations and I owe you a huge debt for starting and maintaining this forum. It is a wonderful educational tool and it is such a great way of connecting with others. It is so easy to get locked into our own little world where everyone we know shares the same point of view.
Thanks you so much.

TrueCreation - Started here at 14, is now 27
TrueCreation's Topic Index
TC has member ID 107 (registered 18-Dec-2001). He started out here as a raving ignoramus YEC 14 year old and from there made the transition to some sort of old Earth creationist/evolutionist/(?).
TC currently has at least a bachelors degree in geology. I think he may well be in the top 10% of "smart people" here at evcforum.net (he's way ahead of me). Unfortunately, MY IMPRESSION is that this has left him in some sort of intellectual turmoil in the creationism vs. evolution battle. He went from doing clearly presented but YEC wrong messages to doing long convoluted "what the heck is he trying to say" messages.
TC is also AdminTC (retired). Unfortunately, he never did much in the admin mode, perhaps because being a creationist admin is a very difficult thing to pull off.
Or something like that.
Moose

My Birthday
Turned 51 yesterday. Feels like every other birthday except more parts ache in the morning.
For my birthday I got a sodded lawn. We have been in mud and dirt all spring so thrilled with sod.
We also got a sidewalk, but as you can see my 4 year old decided to decorate it.
Of course he waited till the concrete guys left and by the time they got back it was too cured to fix. They ripped it up this morning and are repouring right now.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts
"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.
