I mentioned on this board before that I was expecting my first boy. He finally came.
He doesn't have a name yet because we cannot decide between 2 really good ones.
His birth was rather interesting. It just so happens that we had our last pre-natal appointment. We showed up and when our provider examined my wife she was suprised to find out that she was 8cm dialated. She had labored the previous night and all through work the next day without even realizing it. We rushed to the hospital and in a few more hours and she had progressed to 10cm and he was 3cm below the midline of her pelvis still without any pain.
The finally broke her water when he wouldn't come down any more and then it felt like real labor. I thank God very mightily because towards the end he was in distress and they gave her one last chance to push him out before they were going to intervene. Because she had enough energy having been spared the labor pains she was able to do it. Little guy had his hand over his head which got him a little stuck. I never though I would see him being born hand first.
He was 7lbs 10oz and 19in long. He is totally healthy so far. His only baby problem is that he is "tongue tied" which I had never heard of before. His little tongue is attached a too firmly to his lower pallet which causes it to bow when he tries to stick out his tongue.
We have had him home for a little while now and things are going great. My wife is still recovering from the unusual labor but we are both very excited to have him here. I'll let you all know what name we pick when we finally decide.
Thank you for all your good blessings before. They were well utilized.

Congratulations.
Hint.
Do not let them do anything about the tongue unless you plan on spending the rest of your life telling him to shut up. Also, walking is over rated. Bad habit to start.
He looks lovely. Glad everything went okay. Best wishes and prayers for you , your wife and whatshisname.

And more congratulations!
Now the adventure begins! Some important milestones for the first year:
  • Somewhere between 1 and 5 months you'll start sleeping through the night.
  • Somewhere around 6-7 months you'll lose the ability to open your kitchen cabinets or plug anything in.
  • Somewhere around 7-8 months your coffee tables will no longer have anything on them.
  • A short time later your end tables will suffer the same fate.
  • At one year, wrapping paper is a much better present than what's inside!
Wishing all the best for your new family member...

Congratulations
Nice little fellow, Jazz. Looks like a healthy transitional to me.
Why are you still uncertain about his name? The signs are obvious: he was born hand first, so his name must be Clark.

I'll let you all know what name we pick when we finally decide.
Never mind his name. What's his EvC moniker?
Congratulations!

Awesome
Congradulations!!!
I have 5 kids. The only thing I can think of to share with you, is if your baby has colic. One of mine had it for a month and a half, crying every night, I took his pacifier and dipped it in some wine, and stuck it in his mouth, he never had it again after that. There was about 2 drops of wine on the pacifier.
Good luck.

And they keep rolling in!
Congrats Jazz!
I can't give you any friendly advice/witty words of wisdom, however I am glad the birth wasn't too bad on the mother! I too had an awkward birth (I was a breech), so I heard from my parents how stressful it can be.
I also learned a new word, ankyloglossia (tongue tied), it seems to be quite common and is easily treatable where it doesn't correct itself. So don't worry, he looks great, has he a name yet?

I think I've forgotten most of what I knew about babies. Guess I'll have to refresh before the grandbaby gets here.
