Shurly shome mishtake
I am this bloke
A person who would say "bloke" (working class English) would say "I'm this bloke" never "I am this bloke" (upper class English).
But you would have to have your eyes well-peeled in order to spot a flaw in your English Pars

That's why I said it the way I did. I'm not a working class bloke, I am a gorgeous upper class woman. I used the word 'bloke' because I was expressing someone else's idea of me. (Yours perhaps?)

That's very nice of you to say, dear. But it comes naturally.

RP
Algemeen Beschaafd Engels
I think "Received Pronunciation" is the term you want. And from what I've heard when I had to visit the Netherlands (these Star Trek conventions are so demanding you know), they leave out the "Beschaafd" from "Algemeen Beschaafd Nederlands" nowadays. They think it isn't very civilized to call themselves 'civilized'.

So very Dutch. So eager to be anything but exclusive that the "dat mag niet" become "alles mag"
Quaint.
Personally (its late so my fellow faith aloners might not be watching my sin: quick look at the attendee bar "nah! Faith will be sluggin' it out somewhere else") I used to get an erection when I heard the dulcit-toned female ABN-er recite the flight safety instructions on the Aer Lingus flight home to Holland.
I wouldn't mind, but it was a tape...

stuck up
If you can't express your thoughts correctly in plain English, why should I believe that you are on top of the subject you are talking about?
What about Stephen Hawking?
He's a good example of someone who can't express their thoughts correctly in plain English but is still on top of the subject they are talking about.
Other smart people are just lazy. They could be very well on top of their subject but just don't want to take the time to dumb it down to 'plain English' so people will believe they know what they're talking about. Or maybe they are so far out there that proper english is the difficult part.
Why not just judge people by the way they look instead of the way they communicate? Its an easier form of prejudice.

Robin,
It's Brad's long standing amusement to take the English language where it's never gone before and then bend, twist, contort and just generally free style into some wild abstract art. It's literature beyond even the great Joyce! And even more incomphrehensible.
It's just a singularly odd endeavor on his part.

Or is that asking too much?
On the internet? Ask away but you won't get it. These practises go way back to Usenet and early email and are thus deeply rooted in the culture. Don't know how they can be changed.
Perhaps it has to do with wanting to speed up typing as we attempt as human beings to emulate the speed of the machines?
