There was once an old man by the Tigris
Speaking to the vengeful God of his

We know what next came
Was that God told him to start circumcises.

Five lines is enough of a message
For those who espouse more-is-lessage.
A post that's concise
Is a pearl of great price,
(Or maybe compulsive-obsessage).
Some say that my view is myopic
And my posting-style too microscopic.
Five lines or more?
I could say it in four,
But to do so would take me off-topic.

Revival
Hi all,
Seems we have another limerickist, so I thought I'd revive this thread
There are those who would rather mock
than engage in a serious talk
about certain concepts
and some basic precepts
that cause a fixed mindset to balk
Now I needn't name any names
or engage in a war of word flames
enough has been said
to flog a horse, dead
several times from these games
There are things that we already "know"
and some that we think we can KNOW
but some are just guesses
so we end up in messes
Cause there are things we don't "Know", no?
Enjoy

The Never Ending Nature of Zen
There was an old fellow called Zen
Whose diagrams were ten out of ten
But they kept on changing
His scales re-arranging
Until now their beyond even his ken
On the question of undetectable entities
The threads they just go on endlessly
But it's all in the mind
Or so undefined
That the answer is obvious to anyone able to think objectively
Does RAZ really "know" what he means?
When he tackles myself, Mod and bluegenes
I really do doubt it
But he continues to spout it
Hence the never-ending hysterical scenes
Accusations of dissonance that is cognitive
And a tendency to use words in a manner pejorative
For example "curiously"
Is used rather spuriously
But eventually something has got to to give.
So we have both resorted to rap and rhyme
To continue this ongoing pantomime
Will it ever cease?
I see no release
And expect it to go on until the end of time

the nature of nature now and zen
Curiously . . .
Straggler tries his hand for some kicks
thinking he knows all the tricks
he's better at rap
that he does in a snap
but his cadence is off for most limericks.
Message 48 (with suggested corrections?):
In limerick school I did my spent time
There As they taught me the rules of limerick the rhyme
I feel like a sap
So I'll just stick to rap
And never again will I to commit such a terrible crime
These are small things that I've changed
for how limericks are arranged
( ... do you AGREE
or DISAGREE ...)
the changes are less than deranged?
Enjoy

Re: the nature of nature now and zen
Well I can't argue with any of that
Being a newbie to this limerick format
So yes I agree
But I'm still more funny
Now give yourself a large pat on the back

There once was a man from Montana
who sat down to play the piana
his hands gave a slip
his pants did a rip
and out came a hairy banana

Lots of nice stuff here.
But let me get some of my oldies out of the way before sitting down to think about one that would be appropriate for EvC:
Orange:
A poet who burst on our times
In a wardrobe of lemons and limes
Went looking for 4 eng-
ineers dressed in orange
To hack at the worst of his rhymes.
Silver:
When Olympians, in from the cold,
Get caught and the scandals unfold,
My question is will vir-
tue get only Silver
Or will it be given the Gold.
others...
Now Cribbage can take you aback
When a combinatorial lack
Of counting Fifteens
And Thirty One means
That you have to hope for the Jack
My nose, I suppose, could use style
And be civilized once in awhile.
But instead each nostril
Would rather be hostile
To everything within a mile
...now to put on my thinking cap......

Highland Revival
Though restrictions were made from the get go,
Artificial were the rules against no-no.
So t' hell with decorum
Let's fuck up this forum
And hang our best verse out to show.
__________
There once was a man old and wise.
Who lamented on how the time flies.
So he found him a whore,
Then two or three more.
And lined them all up by their size.
As the ladies all stood there a-waiting
What they thought was to be a quick mating.
He measured each lass,
From her front to her ass,
With a tool of incomp'rable making.
While standing their patience wore thin.
The small one did softly pipe in,
Sir, if you please,
Let us get on our knees.
And finish what's yet to begin.
This lamenting grey man old and wise,
He refused to give in to their cries.
Their sins he did hate,
So 'e told 'em to wait,
As he built each a coffin their size.
The dearies they didn't want to die.
So they thought up a plan worth a try.
They lifted their skirts
And pulled down their shirts.
Which dropped that old man like a fly.
