Discreet label made a comment here that reminded me of something I wanted to discuss here before.
You have the pride to say that the GOD communicates directly with you? That you are in touch with the alpha and omega? Such a supreme being that merely looking at him would kill you?
Now, I am not talking about any specific person here, but what I would like to know is:
What would your doctor say if you mentioned at a consultation that you regularly had conversations with God, and God tells you to do things?
You hear God's voice as if He was there in the room with you and he chats away about a variety of things. What do you think your doctor would say?
Brian.

Brian,
When you talk to god it's called praying, when he talks to you it's called schizophrenia.

What do you think your doctor would say?
Q: Is it a Christian doctor or a non-Christian one?

Good tactic you doc had
He said he too talked with GOD.
Then phoned the funny farm after you had left the building?

You must have missed a rather epic (but still open) discussion about this earlier in the year, for interest it can be found here.

I wonder what I would do!
Personally I would think that I had went loopy if I heard a voice claiming to be God.
Once I had checked to find out if any of my mates had been playing a trick on me, I probably would go to the doctor and ask for help!
Brian.

I vaguely remember that thread, I think I got bored with all the background noise and gave up.
Thanks for the reminder.

Indeed, I wonder how many conversions are because of mental illnesses breaking the barrier between the concious & subconcious, however briefly.

Even more disturbing is that arguably the two single events that gave rise to and helped spread Christianity, namely Paul's Damascus road hallucination and Constantine's Milvian Bridge episode, could just have been two psychotic episodes. Although Paul continued to have delusions throughout his life.
So, the foundations of Christianity could just be based on two psychotic episodes.
Brian.

Not least of which was believing Jesus was actually going to keep his promise & return in his lifetime

praying and talking with God
Brian, most people that pray and believe God "talks" with them do not really believe it is like hearing a voice in the room or something. God communicates in a lot of different ways. There may be a time someone genuinely actuallys hear a voice in your mind, heart, or appear even to hear it right there, but that's not what people are usually talking about. When someone says they have heard from God, it is an interpretation of communication they pick up in prayer.
For example, I had an experience where this love was filling my heart for the girl, and I prayed inwardly if this was the one.....I was attracted to her, and had dated her once awhile back before coming to the Lord (she was more of a nice girl and I was too wild back then), and it seemed I wasn't just falling in love or becoming infatuated, but that the way this love filled my heart seemed to come from the Lord. That was a different experience, and as I prayed, while I was talking with her, I felt a very positive sense of yes, a knowing that defied understanding.
Did I hear a voice say, Yes, this is the girl you are going to marry?
No. But the effect was the same. I felt I knew she was the right one, and that, yes, God had "told" me that, but there was no voice or anything.
Edited by randman, : No reason given.

Oh, cos' that never happens to non-christians.
Allah really wanted you to marry that girl, then?

Re: praying and talking with God
What you describe could just be you attributing an emotional state to the intervention of God, you may be giving HIm too much credit.
As an aside, was your wife a Christian when you started dating her?
Brian.
