First contact ~6:38pm EST
Sorry about that first post link implying the eclipse was earlier -- that is when they went live ... ... with a commentator that comes across as ill-informed at best So the actual eclipse starts around 6:38pm EST Watch this space. Enjoy

Sorry about that first post link implying the eclipse was earlier -- that is when they went live ... This kind of news is best delivered early. No need to apologize.

Quite the show it was. I was able to see the "Bailey's Beads" (where the thin crescent is broken by mountains on the moon) both coming and going. Wonderful

Re: First contact ~6:38pm EST
Eclipse in my neck of the woods next year. I have yet to see a total solar eclipse. I did see an annular one a couple of decades ago. Not nearly as spectacular as a total one though...

Only 425 more days!!! A few places are already advertising the event. Maybe it is not too early to start making plans. 2017 Total Solar Eclipse in Jackson Hole, WY - Wyoming Stargazing
quote: If you are planning on coming to Jackson for the eclipse we strongly recommend that you make your hotel reservations soon because many hotels are already completely booked for the week of the eclipse.
