She was a very old woman, so I didn't really want to pursue it. I've already checked myself and I think I'm ok. No broken bones. My left leg (she came from my left) is hurting with a bruise and scratches, but I think it will be ok in a few days or so. I took down whatever information I needed and let her go.
This makes me think about something (and here is where we can have a debate). I don't know how many times I have seen people that demanded to go to the emergency room with minor things like a scratch on their finger. Do you think that people have grown too accustomed to seeking medical attention for things that people would have just dismissed in the old days?
I was once bitten by one of my neighbor's dog by accident. Why was it an accident? The dog didn't really mean it. The thing was that the owners were very surprised when I said I didn't want to call the police and just wanted to have myself checked out for any infection.
Anyway, just a thought.
Darn, my leg hurts. If it still hurt in a week or so, I'm going to have it checked out. At least I won't be running tonight. More time to do homework and work on my paper.

Sometimes people incur more damage than is immediately apparent. It is probably better to play it safe and get examined, if you have any doubts.
BTW, any thoughts on death? Do you consider yourself ready to die, (if I may use such a phrase)?
I remember reading not too long ago about someone who was killed on their bicycle due to being struck by a car.

I've already checked myself and I think I'm ok.
Don't you have student health services or something?
Out here in the lame-ass real world, I can't afford to go to the doctor unless something's about to fall off. If you have free access to medical personel, you should take advantage.

Funny that you mentioned that. I don't know why it never occured to me. I will go to let them check me out. Now that I am sitting still, it's beginning to hurt really bad everytime I move my knee joint.

These old drivers are just out of hand.
I remember well how a girl in my old dorm was killed changing a tire on the way back from Thanksgiving break, right in front of her boyfriend, by some old guy. Didn't even see her; didn't even stop the car.
Fuck, that still makes me mad. Lam, I can't tell you what to do, but I think you should consider if you think her driving ability is impaired by her age. Next time she might kill someone.

Yes, every person I know has been telling me this. I must admit that I do agree with this. However, some parts of me do not want to be a part of the movement to take away certain rights that our senior citizens already have trouble keeping, and I don't care if a there are some bad apples in the bucket. T'pol must be having more of an influence on me than I thought.

Hahahaha. As I was typing what's above, I discovered another sore spot on my body. There's a spot on my left shoulder that hurts when I move it in certain way.

It sucks to have to relieve someone of the advantages of driving but perhaps if you placed yourself in that persons shoes and ask yourself how you would feel if you did the same thing would you take yourself off the road voluntarily? Think about it,then make a decsion.

Yes, I understand that, and I would probably keep myself off the road if I feel that I don't have the proper reflexes needed during many situations on the road. However, what happened to me was relatively minor compared to what's out there. Also, because it is minor, I do not want to turn it into something that could potentially be used to support the tightening of the criterias for having a legal permit to drive. I am not one of those that uses the "what-if" argument unless it is apparent enough, and to me that was definitely not apparent enough.
Afterall, if she had the reflex to stop in time as to not crush me to death, I'd say she still has some juice left in her.

What's gonna lead to a dramatic restriction of seniors' driving priveledges is a year from now when she plows through a playground's worth of children.
As it stands now, you have the opportunity to have her license evaluated discreetly.
The life you save could be your own. I'm not saying you need to steal her car; but the authorities should be involved, I guess. But it's up to you. Although you may not have a choice; if your injuries are greater than you think, your insurance company - or your school's - may take action anyway.
But by all means, don't let that stop you from getting checked out.

I'd ask her for money to pay for the damage to the bike, and leave it at that.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your accident, Lam. I hope you're recovering alright.
As for the question of "medical attention," I actually tend to be quite the opposite, myself. I have such a phobia of doctors that I pretty much have to be on my death bed to see one. And even then, it's usually only because someone forces me to. Weird, huh? Just the way I am, I guess.
Once again, I hope you're feeling better. Take care of that leg.

Get your leg checked out ASAP. My ex-girlfriend got hit by a car while on a bike a couple years back, and took her sweet time getting her leg the medical attention it should have had. It's permanently fucked up now.

I just got back from an examination of my injuries. They took some x=rays of the major areas that are hurting to see if there's any injury to the bone. Good news is I'm ok in that area. Bad news is the doctor believes that I have some tissue damage and may have to endure some pain for some time before they completely heal.
It's all good now.
Ha! Looks like god failed to kill me once again.

Yeah, God has lousy aim. That's why if he wanted to kill you, he'd take out the entire city with an earthquake, or flood the entire earth, or something like that.
