arachnophilia vs. ray martinez
ray's rejected challenge: Message 1
since ray wants to call me out and have a great debate, i'm game. but since i agree with jar in that ray is not very good at debate, this will not be a debate, per se. but i want to hash out this old argument, on very specific terms.
ray writes:
"Fossils, though few and rare, are by for the most important evidence we have of hominid evolution."
Evos scream about a lack of evidence of Israel in the Sinai but the paucity of transitional hominid fossils is given a sweetheart exemption
original claim found in: Message 134
now, i've challenge ray on this before, and i'd like to do it again. so here are the terms. there will be no argument or debate in this thread at all. it will be, quite contrary to forum guidelines, an argument of images or bare links to images. ray posts a picture of something of hebrew origin found in egypt, i post a fossil of a transitional homind. quid pro quo, tit for tat. the first one to not be able to post an image or a link loses, accepts defeat, and walks away to never make the claim again.
{and presuming this gets through, which i doubt, i do want it moderated. no debate of pictures on either side, no name calling or insults, nothing.}

Re: arachnophilia vs. ray martinez
What an interesting great debate format. It appears easy to score at first glance at least.
However, there will arise some debate about what counts as an acceptable image or link? Should this be sorted out in advance to some degree?
Also, does Ray accept this? We would need some hint before we bother to promote this to the great debate. He can give that in any thread he is currently posting in.

presuming there is evidence of hebrews in egypt. which is what we're determining. please note i'm trying to be very fair about this. i don't have to prove my fossils are ancestors of human beings, and he doesn't have to prove the hebrew artifacts belonged to families that would late leave in the exodus. i don't want to debate evolution or biblical innerancy, just whether there is any context of evidence for either.
However, there will arise some debate about what counts as an acceptable image or link? Should this be sorted out in advance to some degree?
probably. i'm more concerned about location. we can reasonably tell whether the objects ray would post are cose in age to what we're looking for, but the location here is key. so some kind of reference may be needed for his posts, so we can check. mine, the only thing i might need is a specimen number to avoid posting two picture of the same artifact.
although i might even be willing to handicap myself to only posting one of each SPECIES.
Also, does Ray accept this?
i expect he won't, even though his challenge was any topic i choose. but then again, i have a passing interest in both biblical archaeology, and early homind archaeology, and i'm rather certain which one has more evidence. but then again, we'll see, right?

Re: arachnophilia vs. ray martinez
as expected, ray as not accepted.
he claims my terms are not acceptable, and were a "one way street" whatever that means. he didn't say much else, but indicated that he'd like jar's approval as well.
any suggestions, or should i just not bother and take it that ray is not willing to participate here in good faith or back up his claims?

Not accepted
I think that ends it then. It takes two to tango.
Ray might do a bit better with his credibility if he gave ways to make a debate acceptable to him.

Re: Not accepted
yes, i'd like for this to remain open (though not approved) so i can give ray a chance to elaborate on what terms would be acceptable.
as it stands, it doesn't really appear that ray is interested in participating in an honest manner. i would also like to point out that should ray continue to compare the absolute absence of evidence for the exodus to "paucity" of evidence for anything else (beit homind evolution or bison remains), i will point out that he has repeatedly failed to back up his comparison with any evidence whatsoever; whereas i can and have for his similar claims of absence.

You understand that Ray can not respond in the PNT thread?

Re: Not accepted
yes, of course. but i asked him in the other thread (the egyptologist one) to explain why my terms were unacceptable. i just want to give him a chance to get back to me before we toss this topic.
sorry if i was unclear.

Re: ray's gone.
Yes, Ray is gone. I apologize for ruining the fun, but EvC Forum is striving to achieve a higher standard of debate. Ray's irrational musings are intriguing, but for the wrong reasons.
