Why are the old fashioned interpretations of the bible clung to with such verocity? Could it be fear? Fear of god? Fear of retribution? Fear of everlasting hell? Well, looking around the world today, we are already living the fear, and perpetuating it.
What have we got to lose? Having nothing to lose is a powerful position. There is nothing to fear in challenging the old interpretations of the bible and everything to gain by a new interpretation of such a powerful book.
The bible was written in a completely different time and from a completely different mentality to that of today. Surely with our modern day knowledge and the benefit of hindsight, we can interpret the bible in a new way with new meanings. Maybe in a way those who wish to follow the bible can all accept.
The bible is so significant in many people's lives and a different outlook from open minded individuals would be a breath of fresh air. An example of a different and innocent understanding was from a child who believed the 1st commandment was when Eve told Adam to eat the apple. Isn't that wonderful and why not? It's logical in todays mentality.
Let's have a free for all on new ideas of the bible, without the fear and without defending the old.

Your subject is too broad.

A more appropriate approach would be to address one concept, story, or teaching for discussion.
I am not inclined to promote this topic as written. If you wish to rework the OP, let me know and I will review it again. If not, this PNT will be closed on Sunday.
