For all intents and purposes it appears that America’s sphere of influence is a double-edged sword. In a very real sense America precariously teeters on the edge of a precipice, where regardless of its stance, its’ policies will be viewed as wrong in someone’s eyes. The United States therefore is at an impasse for simple fact that it cannot please everyone.
For if the US involves itself in the affairs of one nation, invariably it is criticized as having a Caesar complex, an interventionist attitude, and is too heavily involved in the affairs of sovereign nations. If, however, the US respects the sovereignty of another nation by taking a hands off approach, others criticize it as being indifferent to human suffering, taking an isolationist attitude, or uncompassionate.
As it relates to foreign aid (monetary, subsistence, and weapons), military bases abroad, and embroiling itself in military intervention strategies, I feel that it is in the best interests of any nation to stay out of entangling alliances.
What are your thoughts on how to handle foreign national policy?
